Our Junior Varsity Girls 👧 Basketball team is 2-0 this year playing teams not named Pulaski County but the Cougars present match up problems for our Lady Cavaliers. PCHS jumped out to an early 9-4 lead and held on for a 52-32 victory and a sweep of the season series.
Raylee Goins led the offense with 10 points, including going a perfect 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Kayla Young added eight points while Faith Clontz netted six.
Carroll County played well in spurts despite giving up what looked to be inches in both height and wing span at four of the five spots on the floor.
The second quarter in particular looked to be where the Cavs looked the most comfortable. All five starters scored 2 points each and the team stayed within 11-10 over the seven minutes to head into the break down 25-16.
After struggling in the third quarter the Cavs once again bounced back to play the fourth quarter at 8-8.
Mrs. Goins and I both shared many pictures 📷 of the game back on the Day Long 🏃♂️ Post.
CCHS…………6 10 8 8 – 32
PCHS…………14 11 19 8 -52
Carroll County (32) – Goins 10, Ka Young 8, Clontz 6, McMillan 4, Leonard 2 , Ke Young 2, Burress and Dalton…
Plenty of effort on both ends of the floor and not sure how many more times the Lady Cavaliers will face the same amount of size this season.
At 4:21pm Callie Harris calmly sank her fourth consecutive free throw to help ice 🧊 the Lady 👩 Cavaliers 57-42 road victory over Pulaski County.
4:25 – Final Horn sounds to end the contest and the Ladies headed to the lockeroom to change back into their street clothes.
5:00 pm – Callie heads to her Parents car 🚗 where her costume awaits for the Musical 🎼 which begins back in Hillsville just before 6pm.
Pretty tight window for the transition but no laws were broken on the drive down!
With a few minutes to spare…..
Hopefully the second evening of the performance went as smoothly 🙏 as the first one did last night 🌙.
The adventure took me back to last year when the Richardson Family 👪 had to make the trek from the State Swimming 🏊♂️ meet in Richmond back to the Hill for the Boys 👦 Basketball playoff game.
We ended the day with Andrew Myers finishing in third place. Samuel Collins, Louis Marshall, and Fisher Myers fought hard and ran into some good competition to finish a round out of placing. This team is starting to understand what is expected from a physical and mental aspect in this sport! We grew a lot this weekend as wrestlers and young men, and have a lot more growing to do! We have a day to rest and recuperate, then it’s back to work on Monday! Next stop is at Giles on the 20th, then the Big Orange tournament on the 22&23. “Always Forward, Never Outworked!”
Game 1 of 4 has started right on time with our JV Girls 👧 getting the event started. Per the norm we always try to capture the jump ball, sometimes we find success others not much but its a routine
One of the better ones !
