Eight is enough for our Junior Varsity Girls πŸ‘§ in a 31-28 victory over host Honaker Tuesday night πŸŒ™

Honaker – Carroll County Head Coach Kayla Nester arrived at Honaker with just seven dressed players and the Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers received contributions from the entire group in earning its second victory of the season.

CCHS jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead and managed to carry a 17-16 lead into the lockeroom. Faith Clontz scored all eight of her points in the first half but the Tigers πŸ… stayed close by making a pair off 3-pointers just before halftime.

Kayla Young finished with a game high 13 points to lead a balanced attack for the Cavaliers. Young also accounted for the lone 3-pointer for Carroll County.

Honaker (pronounced Ho-naker) came out of the break strong πŸ’ͺ, scoring six unanswered points to take a five point lead but the Cavaliers stiffened on defense after the run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ.

Honaker would only score six more points the remainder of the contest. Kenzie McMillan scored four of her seven points in the fourth quarter to keep the Tigers πŸ… at bay.

Kayla Young (2 points) found McMillan open for a basket to give CCHS a 31-26 lead and survived when the game tying 3-pointer bounced off the rim.

Raylee Goins added one point and while Natalie Burress and Laynie-Jo Leonard didn’t score their defense proved to be vital in the road victory.

The JV team returns to action on Saturday as part of the quadruple header being held at Pulaski County beginning at Noon.
