Entourage is a funny word and something that I will never have but it turns out that I might be part of the one that hangs around Mr. Kris Richardson. For the longest time I thought it was just me that couldn’t get his attention when we were out in public together but after the recent trek over to Grayson County I found out that there’s a group of us and the number is growing!
Boys 👦 Basketball 🏀 Head Coach Anthony Barnes falls into the same grouping as does Mrs. Richardson (Paula). Pretty sure that you can add Ethan Richardson to the list as well so I if I am part of a group of “groupies” at least there are some Top Shelf folks in it with me !
When Kris isn’t busy coaching at one level or another he’s spending time in the Gymnasium bouncing from one conversation to another. There’s no shortage of folks willing to get the next five minutes with him.
Understand that its a blessing 🙏 to have the type of personality that Richardson possesses in today’s World 🌎. Keep up the great work young man 👨 !
Besides, it could be fun to be part of an entourage, maybe we can all get matching shirts 👕 from Brandi’s Dad.

During the winter months we have roughly 80 Student Athletes between 4 Basketball 🏀 teams, 2 swimming 🏊♂️ teams and a Wrestling team. I do my best to try and show appreciation towards all 80 of them. There are times were despite my Best efforts I will end up with a misspelled name. If someone sees one of these PLEASE let me know immediately, anyway possible.
I just received a text message from Kevin Burress who is a great example of a wonderful person letting me know that I needed to make a correction-
Hey Jerry! Chris asked me to let you know that LJs name is spelled. Laynie-Jo. He said no big deal but wanted to let you know. Thank you for all that you do!
Thank You Chris, Thank You Kevin and my apologies to a terrific young Lady 👩 in Laynie-Jo Leonard !
Please, Please, Please let me know when this occurs so that we can correct it

Creative Lazer Design is a family 👪 owned shop from top to bottom and they possess a Mad Set of Skills when it comes to Lazer technology.
Their shop is right off US-421 in Wilkesboro, NC and I stumbled across them during this past Appalachian State University Field Hockey 🏑 season. Seeing the wide variety of signs and such which includes a number of Nascar trophies over the years started the conversation. The thing about these folks is the level of joy and pride in both their work and their community!
Our Logo and tag line was created by a dear friend, Rob Sisk. Rob is more like a fourth son / sixth child then a friend and his early assistance will be a HUGE part of our Organization as long as we are able to move forward.
The simple idea of a Sun rising over a Mountain ⛰ top is our reminder that we should never surrender what we believe in.
If you find yourself in need of a sign or anything that you would want to have hanging on your wall these folks can create!

The view off the back deck here in Laurel Fork that inspired the logo.

Wanted to share one more item from their shop….

The picture 📷 here doesn’t do it justice but gives an example of how creative they can be with their tools.
Have a Blessed Day !

The newly added Pay Wall for the web edition of the Carroll News has caused us to flip the script a bit. Now I post the story here and then Allen will take it and with my blessings change the verbiage to fit his needs.
Naturally all of the fluff that I add at the end doesn’t move over but it doesn’t need to.
#Teamwork

Alyssa Ervin stood alone at the free throw line with Cavalier teammates on the other end of the court and connected on her last two shots from the charity stripe to push the CCHS lead out to 65-62. The score would be the final tally as Honaker could not get a good look at a game tying three pointer.
Ervin connected on five of nine free throws, all taken in the final frame on her way to scoring a game high 36 points. But the takeaway from the night should be how much growth was shown by the rest of the team.
Honaker was trailing 63-62 and managed to work the basketball into the post what could have been the go ahead basket before Kacie Young blocked the shot which lead to Ervin getting two more free-throw attempts.

Honaker(3-1) strung together three consecutive Class 1 State titles before falling in the Regional Semi-finals last season 43-40 to J.J. Burton to end the streak. They played excellent team defense from start to finish, never allowing the Cavaliers to create distance on the scoreboard.
The first quarter ended tied at 15-15 with Katie Lam leading the scoring with 7 points. Ervin added 15 in the second quarter to have 19 at the break and give the Cavaliers a 37-32 advantage. Sophomore Laiken Burnett netted her Varsity basket in the first half and Young scored her lone basket to round out the scoring in the opening 16 minutes.
The Tigers were leading 47- 46 when Coach Marc Motley called a timeout with 2:14 remaining in the third quarter. Not sure if it was what the veteran Coach drew up in the huddle but the Cavaliers converted a rare five point possession. Sarah Alderman found Madison Lyons with a perfect pass for a basket and a foul. Lyons missed the free throw but the rebound led to a Lam 3-pointer, her third long ball of the game. The five point play allowed the Cavaliers to regain the lead at 51-47.
The game remained close over the final eight minutes, allowing a Cavalier squad playing without injured starter Corrie Delp to all play clutch minutes. Callie Harris joined Burnett in the first Varsity basket club when the fellow sophomore calmly sank a fourth quarter 3-pointer. All seven to see game action scored with Lam finishing with 17 points.
Young replaced Delp in the starting lineup and finished up with two points and one possibly game saving blocked shot at the end.

The two teams will play the rematch on the Hill December 18th with the festivities including the Ring ceremony for the 2022-2023 season.
Carroll County (3-0) returns to action Saturday at Pulaski County as part of the quadruple header versus the Cougars.

On a separate note 📝, Debbie was proudly wearing her Galax gear ahead of their big Football game in Salem on Saturday evening.

Why does someone spend 10 hours to drive 🚗 271 miles round trip to watch two basketball games 🏀 and then write ✍ about them afterwards 🤔 ???? Because someone should to recognize the efforts of our Student Athletes.
I will check the Bristol newspaper 📰 tomorrow to see if there’s anything else out there.
Thanks to Kevin Burress during the JV game and the Harris Family 👪 for providing assistance throughout the night 🌙. Wishing Debbie and her family the Best of Luck on Saturday night!
