What kind of Day has it been ? Twelve Hours of supporting our Cavaliers has come to a close

There are stories to tell and pictures to share but first here’s the quick recap –

Lady Cavaliers Soccer ⚽️ fell 4-0 at William Byrd

Lady Cavaliers Softball advances 1-0 over Lord Botetourt

Lady’s Tennis 🎾 sent their Top Singles and Doubles players to Virginia Tech and while they fell short the duo were wonderful ambassadors to our School.

Boys Tennis 🎾 sent their Top players as well with Jabin Talley claiming his first ever Regional victory in the Quarters before falling to the #1 Seed in the Semi-final.

Talley and Ethan Richardson claimed a QF victory as the 3rd seed which earned the duo a return visit to VT next Tuesday.

Plenty of details to come later !

Tennis 🎾 @ Tech, Girls Soccer in Vinton & Softball @ Home – Let’s have ourselves a Cavalier Day! Live for the Day

The Girls 👧 Tennis trio headed out at 8:51am and the Boys 👦 trio is set to do the same momentarily. Plenty of opportunities today to say those two words – Go Cavs !

Let’s go to Tech !

6 Indoor Courts and 6 Outdoor Courts

Warm ups have begun, matches set to start with Singles at 11am

The Coaches meeting has concluded and we are set to begin. It’s a touch cold 🥶 on the outside courts and just a scooooutch warm on the indoor courts.

Jabin is playing on outdoor court #6 and Abby inside on Court #2. Here we Go !

11:30 – Abby has dropped her set inside, Jabin won his opening set 6-1. 2nd set is underway

Both players have held serve through the first five games. Beasley 3-2 with Jabin serving.

Beasley closes out the match 6-0.

Jabin secured his first Regional victory earlier in the day but fell to Christiansburg’s Top player in the Semi-finals.

  • includes playin game results

Have to say this is the most competitive region around from top to bottom in any sport!!!

1st matchup is the 1vs8
This is a matchup that Magna Vista won 3-0 on the very 1st game of the year!!! So they have seen each other play and I am sure both team have improved since that day. Magna vista comes in with scoring 114 goals and giving up only 6. SR has scored 40 goals and has given up 18 goals. This will be played at the smith river sports complex where Magna Vista has outscored their opponents 76-0. Actually your very own Lady Cavs is the only team to score on Magna Vista at smith river. My prediction in this game will be magna vista 4-0 over Stanton River.

2nd match will be #2 vs #7
Number 7 Christiansburg beat number 10 cave springs in OT to get to the qtr finals matchup against LB. Cburg on paper is definitely the underdog in this matchup. The two teams had two common opponents and both had the same results against those team. LB has outscored their opponents 61- 19 so that leads me to my prediction of LB winning 3-1 over cburg.

3rd matchup is your very own Carroll County Lady Cavs vs William Bryd!!! This matchup is between two of the best defensive teams in the region. Only magna vista has allowed less goals than these two teams. Carroll has set some school records this year one being the least amount of goals allowed in a season. No common regular season opponents and the last time these two teams faced off was back in the 2016 season where Bryd won 5-1. Cool story in this game is there will be three players from this coming fall Emory and Henry team will be involved in this game, Bryd has two players going to Emory and Henry next year and Carroll County Assist Coach Adrienne Harris. If this game stays low scoring I could see an upset in this one. I will just let this one play out and not do a prediction!!

4th and final game for the qtr round matchups will be the 4v5 seeds. Abingdon will host Hidden Valley at The Meadows Sports complex. On paper this one would look to be a win for Abingdon considering they have scored 66 goals and HV has only scored 27, then you look at their strength of schedules. Hidden Valley plays in one of the best districts in the state of Virginia and Abingdon’s district well not anywhere as good as the River Ridge!!! Hidden Valley is the only one of the top six seeds that does not have double digit wins. Hidden Valley gave Powerhouse Blacksburg their only lose of the season!!! Hidden Valley is my dark horse of this tournament!! My prediction is HV 4-0!!

Friday will offer two more Cavalier teams and four individuals another opportunity to extend their season. Softball, Girls Soccer ⚽️ and a quartet of Tennis 🎾 players are set to take the stage in three venues

Tennis 🎾 for the Top Singles and Doubles players get underway on the Courts at Virginia Tech at 11am with four Cavaliers set to participate.

Girls 👧 Soccer ⚽️ heads up to Vinton to face #3 seed William Byrd in the Region Quarterfinals at 6pm.

Softball opens at home tonight in the #1 vs #8 contest versus Lord Botetourt also at 6pm.

If either or both of the teams wim tonight their season will extend to next Tuesday in the Semi-finals. Our top singles players get started in their quarters knowing that if they win their opening match they will take a short break then play their Semi-final round at approximately 1pm. To advance to the State tournament they will need to win three times.

Shortly after the first two rounds of Singles are played the opening round of doubles will take place with the estimated time there being 3pm.

Abby Brown 6th in Girls 👧 Singles

Abby Brown and Emma Vernon are 7th in doubles

Jabin Talley is seeded 4th in Singles

Jabin Talley and Ethan Richardson are seeded 3rd in doubles.

The Girls Soccer ⚽️ team reached double figures in victories this season but the Region 3D field is stacked this year which has the team opening on the road against a talented William Byrd squad. The Lady Cavaliers have a great deal of offensive fire 🔥 power that will be on display in addition to a stingy defense.

Lord Botetourt softball earned the right to head to Cavalier Park tonight by defeating Tunstall in a high scoring affair (13-8) on Wednesday night. Emma Leath will be on the mound and the Cavs defense needs to be on its toes.

11am, 3pm*, 6pm & 6pm are your start times today for the final group of Cavaliers to take the stage in hopes of joining the Track and Field individuals that will be competing at the State meet next weekend.
