Alleghany High School 🏫 will be hosting the Junior Varsity District Championship Game on Friday in large part because the team finished up the season with a sparkling 9-1 league mark and a 15-1 record overall.
By comparison Carroll County finished up at 6-1 and 15-4 overall. First glance has one asking about the fact that the Lady Cavaliers played three less games in the District than the Mountaineers did??
CCHS and AHS were clearly the class of the district by a wide margin with Floyd County the team in the middle followed by James River, Glenvar and Radford. The top two teams split their double header early in the season but while AHS managed to play all 10 District games the Cavs only played seven of their 10.
Both contests with Radford were called off, including the one that would have been played yesterday after the Varsity teams met. The night that Glenvar was set to make the trip down to Hillsville the Highlanders only sent their Varsity squad.
The odd thing with Radford not playing the Lady Cavaliers either time was they were finishing up practice yesterday afternoon and tonight MaxPreps is showing that they played Alleghany and lost 17-0.
I am sure that there’s a logical reason for this fact but for now its a bit confusing to me???
9-1 vs 6-1 promises to be a great ballgame tomorrow night 🌙 @ Alleghany High School 🏫
Here’s hoping that Alexis Dalton and her troops are ready to make a run 🏃♂️ at the Mountaineers!
