Coach Kevin DeHaven and his Diamond 💎 Nine will be the first team to take the plunge into the Post Season Wednesday night 🌙 at 5pm when his 7th seeded Cavaliers host #10 Magna Vista in one of the two play-in games. The winner advances to the quarter-final round and will play at the #2 seed on Friday.
Here’s an opportunity to compare landing the #7 seed versus the #6 seed (Both Girls 👧 and Boys 👦 Soccer ⚽️ landed the #6 spot in their groups).
When you are #7 you are required to win four games to be the Regional Champion by comparison a #6 would only have to win three times, almost certainly all on the road.
On the flip side of the conversation as the #7 seed you get to open the tournament at home, in front of your fan base in a game you are considered the favorite to win. How do you measure the value of your Senior class getting to wear the home uniform one more time ? You can bring the economic end up if you like because it also means one more home gate but I think it would be more important to get to use your home field one more time.
The plus side would be to build momentum in the post season before heading out on the road against a higher ranked team. The downside would be that you are going to have to use your pitching staff a bit more to guarantee that next game……
Maybe our resident Baseball ⚾️ Skipper could shed some light on his take on which side of the #6 or #7… We know that the four Seniors that just celebrated their Senior Night will be back out on our Diamond 💎 one more time and here’s to the Hope that a large number of people will make sure they feel supported in their efforts !
