Girls πŸ‘§ Soccer ⚽️ playing at Glenvar as scheduled ! Highlanders 5, Cavaliers 1(F)

We will count on Marion to give us the story to the game later tonight but for the time being we can tell you that its 2-1 Glenvar at the half.

Glenvar opened the scoring in the 29th minute off a corner kick and 94 seconds later pushed the lead out to 2-0. The Lady Cavaliers regrouped to keep Glenvar from adding a third goal and in the 37th minute scored on a breakaway to trim the lead to 2-1.

Your final score is 5-1 in favor of the Highlanders and we hope to have more information about the event later tonight.

Good News, Bad News for Sydney Nester and Marshall Softball. Good News is that the Sun Belt Conference received a second bid but the Bad News is it went to Texas State.

Marshall fell short in the Sun Belt Softball Championship game 1-0 to Louisiana down in Lafayette on Saturday meaning that the team would need the NCAA tournament committee to offer a rare at-large bid to the Mid-Major conference on Sunday.

That prayer πŸ™ was answered but instead of it going to the #2 seed and tournament runner-up Thundering Herd that rare bid went to fifth seeded Texas State.

45-10 was the final record for Marshall University but the strength of schedule was the reason pointed to be the culprit. A late season victory over Virginia Tech and a near miss vs Top Five Alabama was hoped to be helpful to the S.O.S rating but that sadly wasn’t the case for the Thundering Herd.

Final week of regular season play begins with four Monday contests

Girls πŸ‘§ Soccer ⚽️ heads up I-81 to face a tough Glenvar squad while Boys πŸ‘¦ Tennis 🎾 will host an equally tough Highlanders team. Both teams came up just short the first time around against these squads.

@ Cavalier Park Varsity Softball will play a double header against Tazewell with the action getting underway at 5pm. Tennis starts at 430 while Soccer begins at 6pm

Go Cavaliers !
