Wow what a day!!! I got to watch our senior class receive over a half of million dollars in scholarships!!!! My daughter received four scholarships!! Later that afternoon I got to watch six seniors sign to play sports at the next level. Natalie and two of her volleyball teammates was half of the athletes signing!!!
Watching them take picture with family, coaches, teammates and others was just priceless!! After that I got to experience the super bowl of academics for Carroll county public schools!!! For the 9th year CCPSD has allowed the top 10 in the class to invite someone from CCPSD family to a celebration called Golden Cavaliers where the student surprises a person of their choice with a speech and a special Gold star. I have been able to participate in 3 of the 9. One where I received a gold star from Aubree Marshall which is still one of my greatest highlights of my
teaching and coaching career.
The other two times was watching Adrienne Harris and Natalie giving their star to a very special friend to our family and many others in the Carroll county family!! Mr Ewell Vernon is that special friend. I could type all day about this guy but all that know him does not need to hear it from me.
All 10 speeches tonight were very special and it made me really think about how special our community is and how blessed we are with great educators!!! This is the best night that CCPSD has on their calendar and will always be special for me!!! Thank God for this special day and the education family that we got to spend it with!! Very proud of my senior and the rest of the senior class of 2023!!!!!
