Senior Night on the Hill for the Ladies Soccer Team vs cross county rivals Galax. This night was a celebration of the six seniors that have played through the last four years!!! This group did not have a freshman year because of Covid and had a shortened sophomore year. Through all of this the senior class along with the rest of their team has accomplished what only a few teams have done in the programs 25 year history. The first goal came 4 mins in when Ashlyn Newman found Senior Natalie Harris for her first goal of the night. Later the same combo switched places and Harris setup Newman from a corner kick to go up 2-0. Newman scored her 2nd of the night when Laila Hutchens sent a header to Newman to help setup the 3rd goal of the night for Carroll. This would be the score at halftime because of some great defense from Alexis Sheffey in Goal!!! The 2nd goal of the night for Newman also moved her ahead of her Sister for 2nd in most career goals. 2nd half was all Cavaliers and the scoring began with a combo that already hooked up for two others goals tonight and that would be the Newman to Harris for a 4-0 lead. The final goal came when Karmen Smith found Natalie Harris on a picture perfect pass!!! The final score would end 5-0 in favor of the Cavaliers. This year’s team has accomplished so much and there is still more to come. The win tonight gave the cavaliers double digits in the win column for only the 3rd time in program History!! More to come on the other team accomplishments after the game on Monday. For now the Lady Cavaliers move to 10-2-1 and their next game is at Glenvar on Monday. Regional seeding is still up in the air but projected to be in the 5-7 range. The top 10 teams in our region all have winning records and that shows how competitive this region is from 1 to 10.
