Carroll County High School π« will be a heavy underdog tomorrow night in the #1 versus #8 VHSL Playoff game at Abingdon. But that fact should not dampen the accomplishments of the 2024-2025 Cavalier football team.
Coming into the Senior season of many of the teams players, the Cavaliers had six wins in the last three years to their credit. The fact that they will be trying to match that win total of six against the Falcons should be the takeaway here, heading into the off season.
After racing π out to a 5-1 start under first year Coach Seth Greer, the Cavaliers have run into four straight serious High School football π programs and now sit at 5-5. Greer is trying to build his Cavs program like the Radfords and Glenvars of the World π, making playing in the post season a tremendous opportunity.
Abingdon (9-1) and Carroll County did not have any common opponents for comparison but the fact that they earned the top seed in a highly competitive Region says plenty about the quality of their season. Their lone defeat came at the hands β of a team named Tennessee a few weeks back so they have momentum on their side as well.
For the Mother’s and Father’s of the Seniors on the team, enjoy the trip down and the bonus football that you will get to have with your Sons. For most of them it will be the final time they put on the pads and lace up the cleats in their life.
For the Coaches, congratulations π on the season and the amount of Town Pride π€ that you returned to the Community over the past few months. It was unfortunate that the schedule was stacked heavy at the end but after three consecutive 2-8 seasons, getting to play an 11th game is cause for Celebration.
The Fall schedule becomes the Winter schedule after the final football game. If that’s tomorrow night π, know that this group did the School π« and the Community proud!
