Head Coach Ryan Largen and Middle School 🏫 Football 🏈🏈🏈🏈 – Live Blog

Carroll County Middle School 🏫 Football is hosting the Radford Bobcats tonight at 5:30 pm.

Great opening as the Middle School Chorus packed themselves into the Press Box and performed the National Anthem !

Radford received the opening kickoff and marched down the field to take an early 8-0 lead..

Carroll County has converted twice for first downs on their opening drive!

Once on 4th and 1 and then again on 3rd down. Two more conversions have the team knocking on the door 🚪 of the Red Zone as the 1st quarter ends.

Mr. Edmonds is behind the 🎤 and doing a tremendous job 👏

2nd quarter opens with CC facing a 4th and 16 from the Radford 31. With the help of a face mask penalty CC records a fifth First Down on their opening drive.

Great opening drive ends on a turnover on downs at 4:13. CC picks up five first downs and controlled the ball for over 9 minutes !

More 2 Follow !

Radford TO with 2:00 on the Clock ⏰ in the second quarter. Bobcats inside the CC Red Zone.

Radford scores on a 6 yard TD pass with 0:45 left on the clock ⏰. PAT pending. CC defends the 2-point conversion to hold it to 14-0.

CC begins it second possession with 0:38.3 on the clock ⏰, ball on our 25.

Two plays take us down to 0:04.1 and CC calls 📞 a TO. Halftime at 6:18…..

6:29 – 2nd Half Kickoff….

CC 🏈 1 & 10, own 30

Carroll County punts the ball back to Radford, Bobcats start at CC 48 (5:27).

Not sure if any other opponent will feature the vertical passing game that Radford has.

Radford converts 3rd and 10, now at 37. Next play turns out to be a 37 yard TD (4:25). PAT – 2 point stopped, 20-0, flag on play on offense – kickoff coming.

Carroll County returns kickoff across midfield – 1st and 10, R 45 yard line. New QB behind center for CC on this drive. 4th and 15, ball on Midfield (2:00) CC punts the ball back to Radford (1:48), Bobcats on their own 38.

Worth repeating, Radford offense looks very advanced for Middle School football. CC makes a great stop ✋ on defense but play nullified by horse collar flag.

Radford punches it in on the next play, 8 yard TD (0:29). Two point conversation makes it 28-0.

CC back on offense, 1st and 10 from their own 46 (0:28.6).

Carroll County pass intercepted and returned for a TD (0:19.2), 2 point pass play makes it 36-0.

Now it becomes about gaining confidence for Carroll County. Moving the chains ⛓ and getting the offense back on track.

Next play should end the 3rd quarter.

7:05 – Headed to the final 8:00 now, Cavs facing a 2nd and 6 from their 32

3rd and 4 now, FD would be a great first step. CC set to punt from 34 yard line. Change of possession at 6:38 (4)

Radford TO (2:45), 1st and 10 from CC 30 yard line.

Have a Blessed Night 🌙

Late Note 📝 – I was glad to see Radford take a knee at the end of the game.

Big, Big Fan of Head Coach Ryan Largen and look forward to watching 👀 his team grow under his leadership !!

Later this morning 🌄 Ashlyn Newman will take to the Pitch as a Collegiate player for the first time !

Carroll County’s All-Time leading scorer and her Lady Bulldog teammates are set to make their season debut today over in Arkansas.

Harding University will be the opposing team as Union University begins their season with a trio of road games before playing in front of their home fans in Jackson, Tennessee later this month.

We will do our best to keep up with Miss Newman throughout her Freshman campaign and its worth noting that there will be a life stream of today’s match on the schools Website.

Coach took the time to share his thoughts on opening day :

” Pleased with results. All middle schoolers competed in their first cross country race. Two high schoolers competed in their first ever cross country race.”
