Pistol Pete (Vandenbout) inks Pro Deal

http://www.mid-southconference.org/article/984.php

Pete Vandenbout was on the mound for the opening game at West Virginia Tech last season after following Skipper Lawrence Nesselrodt to Montgomery. Vandenbout spent the summer of 2008 pitching for Ness at Waynesboro and was impressed enough to commit his senior season to the Golden Bears in the hills of West Virginia.

When Pete took the mound for the opener last season he became the first pitcher to throw in the Ness regime at WVT and with the signing he becomes the initial player for Ness at WVT to sign a professional contract. Congrats to both Pete & Ness!

Honoring the Memory of Mrs. Lois Comer

SHENANDOAH – Mark Comer and his family wanted to set aside a day to pay tribute to their Mother that passed away last year and they did so with amazing success on Saturday morning. In what the Comer family hopes to be the first in an annual event somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 family and friends merged in downtown Shenandoah for the Lois Comer Memorial Run (3.2)/ Walk (2.0).

The weather could not have been better for the event as the field of serious runners and casual walkers (I fit into that second group for sure) joined together for I feel is the greatest of causes – honoring a parent!

PCHS Coaches Alan Knight & Frankie Comer were among those on hand.

Jay Neal & Company roll out new name & logo!

The Strasburg Express

The new name brings a smile to my face because when I first started covering High School sports part-time for the Northern Virginia Daily back in 2006 one of the first events I covered was Strasburg @ Stonewall volleyball. Katie Baker and Kaitlin Smoot were juniors on a very talented team that night and my opening paragraph mentioned that the Strasburg Express rolled into Quicksburg that night!

The line just had a certain ring to it and now 3+ years later… Congrats to the Express!

Jenna Smoot named to VHSCA All-Star Game

Congratulations to Jenna Smoot for being selected to play in the VHSCA All-Star Volleyball game in Hampton in July.
