First up – getting to visit with the group from our Future Farmers of America was an absolute pleasure ! They were running our Concession stand tonight, and for that, we are grateful π.
Next , Angel Campbell won our Foul Ball contest with ticket π number 13. When I headed over for the ceremony at the Soccer field, I asked my wife to stay behind and make sure that part was handled correctly. Quick instructions on the fly were to ask the desired shirt π size, try and grab a name, and photo.
Lin crushed that part, βοΈ getting her name. We shared a laugh when we realized that Angel was wearing her school ID. So, thank you for that.

Batting third – due to lightning π© being in the area during pre-game, our Lady Cavaliers were forced upstairs for a spell. This presented an opportunity for a handful of live interviews with three of the young ladies that proved to be a treat for everyone involved. Ava, Kylie, and Miss Cochran, who described her mother very elegantly.
Hitting clean up – The Lady Cavaliers trailed 5-0 headed into the bottom of the 3rd, but the first display of Spunk took place. Millie Parker led off with an infield single, and Cochran moved her to second with a base hit. Bree Campbell and Molly Montgomery both reached on misques, and then Kyra Moser drilled a double ( aided by her little sister announcing her name ) . All five of those Lady Cavaliers came around to score, and we headed to the fourth inning knotted up at 5-5. Mylie Crook and Maeli Parker both added RBI ground outs.
Over the next two innings, the Warriors plated their next five runs to take a 10-5 lead, but once again, the spunky Cavs battled back.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, CCHS added two runs back as Moser scored after being hit by a pitch. Crook beat out an infield single and touched home plate when Aspen Aldred singled.
At the top of the sixth inning is when the back end of the 90 minutes expired and Mr DeHaven wisked me across the Boulevard. I can tell you that the visitors outscored us 5-1 to close out the game with Campbell plating the final run.
The Warriors swung the bat as well as anyone I’ve seen so far, which put our Ava Beamer at a disadvantage in the circle. Chilhowie was incredibly disciplined at the plate from start to finish. But Beamer and Company played with plenty of heart β€οΈ.
In the National Basketball Association, there are players that need rest versus playing back to back nights π. Our kiddos played at Tazewell last night, rode a school bus π home, and then went to class this morning before returning to the Diamond π to play again.
Yes, we lost the battle tonight, but know that these ladies have spunk !
Being in the press box π¦ limits my ability to take photos, so if I have a parent out there willing to share a couple, it will add Pop to the story.
Thank you, Linda, Kevin, and JJ !
