In a life-long chase for Equality, we pay one more tribute to our friend, Allen Worrell by attending a football game of his childhood team….

Last night 🌙 involved a F1 race 🏎🏁 as a show of Love and Support for our Son, Chris. . So, it was natural to do the same for the recently retired Editor for our Community Newspaper 📰.

If you see Allen, ask him about being a Raiders fan while in Bahama 🇧🇸….

Special Bonus comes at the half when Don Felder performs on the Main Stage. Safe bet we will here some Eagles music 🎶…

Yesterday afternoon I was doing way more things at once and didn’t catch the graphics error that had been made on the Max Preps site showing that Christiansburg had defeated Abingdon for the Class 3 State Championship.

I went back and corrected the error made by the site on my site.

Abingdon and Radford combined for sweeps of Carroll County on their way to their State Championships. This accounted for four of the setbacks in the Lady Cavaliers 👩 14-10 season.

33 miles separate Clemson from Furman and this time its the Big School traveling to the Small one.

David Broyles is packed up and ready to begin the rest of his Life and this time there’s no turning back….

Back on September 13th at Cavalier Park we celebrated with David Broyles as he was just weeks away from retirement after a decade at The Carroll News. Mr Greg Bolen sealed the moment by dropping to the ground and doing the worm !

But after Allen Worrell stepped down from his position as the Editor of our local Newspaper 📰, the folks down in Mount Airy asked David if he could help out until they could replace Allen. David staying = me not leaving him behind on his own.

David is a wonderful Human Being ❤ and a fellow member of the We Love Duke University Medical 🚑 Center. But he’s not a Newspaper editor nor did he stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

The last few weeks have been a trying experience for both of us and I’m thrilled that the end is once again upon us !!!

We have one final weekly paper to fill and then its riding off into the Sunset 🌇 time !!!

Writing ✍ / Creating stories is a Fun thing to do for me, its always been that way. But take a look at all of the little ditties from yesterday on our site and my favorite thing was our Girls 👧 Junior Varsity Basketball Coach taking the time to say kind things about her program 💙.

It made me smile because its exactly what we try to frame up for the hard working 💪 Coaches in our County. A platform for them to share thoughts about their Student Athletes in a positive manner. But that’s not a story for the local newspaper.

Allen Worrell and I formed an ideal partnership for the past few years and I was looking forward to our last edition together. But when they couldn’t find a replacement for him, I couldn’t see a way to just leave David Broyles by himself to do a job that wasn’t even his ” dream “.

When I received this reply a couple of days ago, I breathed a sigh of relief as its finally here. We can do anything for one more week, right ?

The Winter Sports Tab is the best example of how hard Allen worked at his job. Not sure just how it will play out now but I will hope for the best. Our Student Athletes deserve their introduction section and Allen always made creating it look easy.

Over the next few days I will do my best to create four or five stories that can wrap around the coverage from the Friday Night football game. Then I can go back to just trying hard to bring Joy and show support for those who interact with us on a regular basis.
