Carroll County (6-6) returns to the court for a third consecutive time this week when Radford comes to The Hill.
Hopefully, we can circle back and add some thoughts from Coach Brown π later today.
Β Game number six of her time as a Paladin of Ferrum University brought Alyssa Ervin as close to playing at π‘ as mathematicaly as possible. Forty miles was all that separated the High School where Ervin scored 2,000+ points and the home of the RU Highlanders.
While I was watching on my computer π₯ screen from Orlando, Florida, I wasn’t worried about capturing the action of the game itself. But to tell the story that I wanted to tell about the night π, I was going to need some help and it came in the form of Vickey Ritchie and Marion Harris !
The outcome of the game was pretty much decided after Radford raced out to a 24-4 lead early in the second quarter but that wasn’t the story that I was chasing with this one. The story here was Ervin was coming home and the community was given an opportunity for a group HUG!

Volleyball π Coach Cindy Edwards was in the house π to show her support as was Glenn Burnett and Family. Let’s not forget the Ervin family themselves, being they raised Alyssa and so willingly shared her with so many people.
Wednesday night π wasn’t about Basketball as much as it was showing appreciation for a talented young Lady that is starting down a path that will hopefully have three more years to it down in the area known as Upstate, South Carolina.
I will challenge anyone with a last name other than Ervin, that I’m the biggest fan of Miss Ervin. Being driven is a challenge and when you find others that are blessed / cursed with similar traits its a natural connection. The journey is just beginning in regards to wearing Purple and thanks to Marion and Vickey, we were able to capture π a glimpse of the evening.
From a Basketball standpoint, Ervin finished up with 7 points and now has 67 on the season after six games. Quick math shows that’s an average of 11+ points a game.
But the bigger story was how many of the announced crowd of 1,293 drove home down Highway 100 as they headed back to The Hill.
