Sunday morning 🌄 Basketball 🏀 breakdown as we are now just 48 hours away from the Head Coaching debut of Kris  Richardson !

Is it possible to be equally excited about covering a College Basketball 🏀 game in Paris, France 🇫🇷 and a Middle School 🏫 Basketball game ?

The answer is YES, because its Kris Richardson coaching his initial game for the Carroll County Middle School Girls Basketball team.

Kara Lawson is taking her Lady Blue Devils over to France 🇫🇷 next Monday.

Tuesday evening at 5pm is the start time for the season opener against Scott Memorial Middle School 🏫. While I’m pretty sure that Coach Lawson has plenty of tape on the Baylor University Bears 🐻 but I don’t know if Coach Richardson has the same level of data on SMMS.

It would be wrong to not mention that the season opener for the Lady Cavaliers brings the loss of beloved Coach Jeff Tobler full circle. While it has been almost a full calendar year since we said our way too soon goodbyes to Coach Tobes, his passing came as the Basketball season was wrapping up last year.

Yes, truly excited about heading to Paris for the season opener next Monday night 🌙 but just as excited about heading to The Hill for the season opener against Scott Memorial Middle School 🏫.!!!

Closing Note 📝 – we have Six Basketball teams ready to start play, Swimming 🏊‍♂️,  and Wrestling as well. We look forward to sharing information about any / all of them that choose to participate…

Our third and final Soccer ⚽️ feature of the day centers around two veterans in the Carroll County Soccer ⚽️ Force…

Marion Harris and Corey Williams are the veteran leaders of the ongoing team effort to bring Carroll County High School and Youth Soccer to the next level.

  It’s common knowledge that Carroll County has been behind the curve in regards to Soccer but the gap is getting smaller by the day. Forrest Johnson and Adrienne Harris McGuire are driving 🚗 the Soccer Bus 🚌 from their positions as Head Coachespecially but both will tell you that there are plenty of empty seats on the Cavalier Soccer Express.

Corey and Marion crossed paths today at the youth Soccer clinic that McGuire was hosting on the South side of the Boulevard.

Above is the older group and below is the younger players.

Marion estimates that Corey and him have teamed up on fifty some camps like the one today. That’s a whole lot of planting seeds in the ground over the years.

    Soccer had a good day today and it came on the heels of one of its stars 🌟 celebrating her Senior Day up at Bluefield University. But Soccer has a greater Hill to climb in regards to becoming a mainstream sport at the local level. Congratulations 👏👏👏 to Miss Ashlyn Newman.

Any day that Soccer ⚽️ is in the spotlight is a good day ! Here’s to many, many more!

Soccer ⚽️ Saturday includes a Tip of the Cap to an Amazing young Lady, Ashlyn Newman celebrated her College Senior Day !

Our All-Time scoring leader in Carroll County High School Soccer ⚽️ just celebrated her Senior Day up at Bluefield.

  If you are like me, you are asking wasn’t it just a couple of years ago that the younger of the Newman Sisters was lighting up the scoreboard at Tommy Thompson Field ?

Soccer ⚽️ is a Fall sport in College where its a Spring sport in High School. Then you add in that our former Lady Cavalier graduated 🎓 High School around the same time she earned her initial degree in College, it helps making sense of the fact it feels like a blur.

Ashlyn Newman is going places in her life and it should be a great journey before its all over !

Our Children are our Future and this morning 🌄 that was on full display on The Hill !

Adrienne Harris McGuire and her Lady Cavaliers 👩 Soccer program set aside their morning today in an effort to introduce the sport that the rest of the World 🌎 calls Football to area youngsters.

Marion Harris shares the view from inside the Camp and took the time to share some of the progress made today !

It’s fitting that the camp would take place within 48 hours of a ground breaking victory for Carroll County up at Radford High School. Both Coach McGuire and her Boys counterpart, Forrest Johnson, understand the uphill climb they face in regards to getting their programs on the same level as the Bobcats and Glenvar Highlanders.

  The progress that has been made on both sides of the Pitch at Tommy Thompson Field 👏 has been impressive and its  happening due to the commitment of the entire Soccer community. The bigger challenge is that Soccer is still an untapped game here but we are closing the gap, day by day.
