As we mentioned earlier in the week, our Cross Country runners 🏃‍♂️ will not race today with the hopes that tomorrow might provide better conditions.

The Schedule 📅 still shows a Junior Varsity Football game on tap over in Martinsville against the Bulldogs.

Being that its  only 3:30, I am hoping that Travis Osborne and Howard Mayo are still hours from waking ⏰ up. I will plug 🔌 in the Photos 📷 for their spots and circle back with the material later this morning.

Breakfast with Coach Nester is on the Horizon !

We will have some tweaks to the format to roll out on November 1st and trying to make sure that all of the I’s are dotted and T’s are crossed before then.

Quite the Night 🌙 on The Hill as Carroll County Middle School hosted opening games for the 2025 – 2026 season ! We open with the CCMS Cheerleaders, courtesy of Beth Bouldin…

There was high energy in the Gymnasium as both Kris Richardson and Darian Brown made their 2025 – 2026 Coaching debuts. Richardson and his Lady Cavaliers were being assisted by Steve Martin and Brown by Assistant Coach Garrett Reitzel.

The scoreboard will show that both of our younger Cavaliers fell short against Scott Memorial Middle School but one would not know it by the sound of excitement in the voice of Coach Richardson afterwards.

” I am on cloud ☁️ nine right now,” said Richardson. ” We took them to an AAU tournament down in Winston – Salem to get them some game experience and it showed tonight. We struggled a little early but once they gained a little confidence, we were able to close the gap.”

Scott Memorial had their way in the opening six minutes and when the horn sounded, Carroll County trailed 10-0. The second six let the visitors know that they were in a battle. The deficit reached 17-4 before the Lady Cavaliers started to climb back and by the end they came within two possessions of tying the contest.

It was a pleasure to finally meet Coach Brown and his wife tonight before I went out to Galax for a Special Olympics Basketball event. A number of people have spoke very highly of the personable young man and he lived up to their kind words!

The things that were different about tonight – knowing that I couldn’t stay past 6pm because of a previous commitment, the coverage for the Girls was abbreviated but know that Kris and his Lady Cavaliers will be covered like they are the SHOWTIME Lakers. Why ? Because that’s what friends do for each other.

  At the same time, I hope to work with Coach Brown this season but like every other Coach, it will be his call.

Already looking forward to Thursday night 🌙!!
