Thoughts from our Junior Varsity Head Coach on her inaugural season…
The joy of coaching is watching a team grow, and that is exactly what this team has done all season long. Though we did not get the result we wanted tonight, their hard work was undeniable. The progress from our first game to tonight is a testament to their dedication and I could not be prouder!!
This was my first season of being head coach, I loved it but couldnβt have done it without Coach Harris!! I have to give you a huge thank you!! Thank you for guiding me and for teaching me how to be a better Coach, I will forever be grateful to have you as my assistant!! Thank you for all that you did for the JV and the Varsity teams, no one sees what all you did behind the scenes, and let me tell yβall, Sheila is super woman! And thank you for keeping me organized π Iβm pretty forgetful and without you I would have been lost most the time π It was a pleasure to get to coach with you β€οΈ Thank you to all the parents, you all helped so much through out the season and we really appreciate you all!

Carroll County hit the ground running as they looked to improve on the outcome earlier this season when the team visited Buchanan. The teams were tied in the first set at 5,6 and 7 but Carroll County created space with an 8-2 run πββοΈ.
Brooke Webb led the way in the decisive spurt as the Senior scored with Kills and serves. Fellow Seniors Callie Harris and Corrie Delp both added finishing swings and CCHS protected the 15-9 advantage the rest of the way.
Sophomore Raylee Goins had a personal 3-0 run with a kill, an Ace and a service winner. Ali Wright added two kills and Harris closed out the 25-17 victory.
James River returned the favor in the second set after a Delp block tied things up at 17-17. The Knights closed out the equalizer 8-2, sending the match to the third set all square.
Carroll County raced out to a quick 10-4 lead behind the serves of Maddie Hyatt and consecutive blocks from Delp. Back to back kills from Harris pushed the Cavs to a 21-18 advantage and Goins landed a kill to give CCHS set point at 24-20.
The following few minutes produced the best points of the match and it started with the Knights pulling even by scoring four straight points. Webb and Delp combined to give the Lady Cavaliers set point serves at 25, 26 and 27 but James River answered all seven opportunities CCHS had to close out the set and finally prevailed 29-27.
Carroll County trailed in the fourth set 17-13 when Webb and Goins cut the deficit to just two points. But once again the Knights rallied to close out the match with an 8-3 run to seal the 25-18 victory.
Head Coach Cindy Edwards and her team will now wait out the results of the final Regional rankings to see if Carroll County landed in the Top Eight. If they did, the team will have earned a road trip to one of the Top four seeds in the Regional tournament. The format changed this year byΒ eliminating the play-in games, leaving the #9 and #10 teams on the outside looking in.
Carroll County JV Volleyball closed out its season, falling 2-0 (24-26, 16-25) to James River. The team, led by first year Head Coach Nikki Heflin improved every step of the way this season and the influx of the current Sophomores should create some compelling Varsity practices next fall.
Travis Osborne captured Aubrey Hanshaw serving an Ace during the JV match.
Part of the fund raising highlights included two 5:00 set breaks where the fans could launch a serve for $1.00 in hopes of having it land on a prize on the far side of the court. Denise Webb might need a bigger closet after her haul from the festivities.
