Radford – Carroll County Volleyball coach Cindy Edwards has been around the sport way too long the recognize ” moral victories ” but if she did, her Lady Cavaliers earned one Thursday night in Radford.
The scoreboard will show that Radford improved to 10-0 in the Three Rivers District and 17-1 overall by defeating Carroll County (13-8, 4-6) 3-1 (20-25, 25-17,25-17, 25-21). But the Lady Cavaliers battled their host from start to finish, despite playing without two of their four Senior leaders.

Callie Harris led the team in kills as the Senior finished seven of the 25 points. Five different players landed at least one kill and suddenly the deficit was just 18-15. This time the 7-2 close out went in the favor of the Bobcats.
Maddie Hyatt stepped up in the third set after Radford opened 4-0. The Junior finished a kill and added two points from the service line to change the momentum. Goins and Arizona Thompson pulled Carroll County to within 13-11 but Radford answered back with eight straight points to put the third set out of reach. The score was a duplicate 25-17 but Carroll County was far from done.
Brealeigh Love landed a kill to tie the final set at 11-11 and a Harris Ace gave Carroll County its final lead at 16-13. Radford relied on its big hitters to pull away with a 6-0 run and went on to close out the match, 25-21.
