Carroll County JV Volleyball squad was down three players and their Head Coach, Nikki Heflin Thursday night at Pulaski County High School. The scorebook will show that the Lady Cougars defeated our Lady Cavaliers 2-0(25-11, 25-16) but progress was made in the second set.
” I was pleased with how the players responded in the 2nd set,” said interm Head Coach Shelia Harris.
” They came out and played hard and never gave up.”
In the opening set Carroll County struggled out of the gate and quickly fell behind 17-5. The Ladies caught their breath after that, playing 8-6 the rest of the way. Highlights in the opening set included an Ace from Willow Barham, service winner from Aaliyah Hampton and a Kill from Paige Ogle.
Trailing 7-2 in the second set, Carroll County began to look more comfortable. The teams were tied at 9-9 after a Morgan Osborne Ace and pulled within 14-12 after a Hampton Ace. Ogle added both a Kill and an Ace during the rally, before the Cougars closed out the match on an 11-4 run 🏃♂️.
The team will be off until Tuesday night when they head up I-81 to Glenvar.
