Jumior Varsity Volleyball 🏐 continues its hectic schedule by hosting Glenvar ahead of their day long festival on Saturday at Patrick Henry – Glade Springs

For the third time in four days, the Junior Varsity Volleyball 🏐 team opened a Home match on The Hill. Thursday night the opponent was Three Rivers District foe, Glenvar and when the dust settled the Highlanders won 2-0 (25-15, 25-21).

Β  The bright spot for the Lady Cavaliers came during the second set. Trailing 1-0, CCHS fell behind 9-0. The previous night against Marion High School, the team faced a similar challenge and struggled in a 25-7 close out set. But Thursday night the team stepped up to meet the challenge !

Aaliyah Hampton stopped βœ‹the opening run with a Kill, sending Skylee Ayers to the service line. Hampton added a second straight Kill and Ayers added an Ace to make it 9-3. The next mini-run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ included two Hampton Aces and a Kill from Aubrey Hanshaw to make it 11-8 and set the stage for a tussle to the end.

Down 15-9, the Lady Cavaliers went on a 5-1 run that was highlighted by winners from Paige Ogle, Morgan Osborne as well as Hampton. The Cavs pulled within two at 16-14, 22-20 and 23-21 before the visitors finally closed out the match at 25-21.

Β  The glass half empty says Carroll County was swept 2-0 but the glass half full shows a resilient effort against a well coached opponent. Glenvar didn’t let up in their efforts, Carroll outscored them 21-14 after the rough start.

I didn’t get a picture of our girls and their dads. I didn’t even think to do it.

“The JV volleyball squad put on an incredible display of resilience and teamwork tonight,” said Head Coach Nikki Heflin. ” In the second set, they found themselves in a 0-9 hole, but they didn’t let up. They fought for every point, rallied together as a team, and almost had it. Their determination was amazing to watch.”

No rest for the group as one week after the Varsity team traveled to the annual Rebel Classic, its now the Junior Varsity team’s turn to experience a day long Bonding adventure !

When I left Laurel Fork this morning at 9am, I certainly didn’t envision not arriving back until Tip Time for Kelsey Plum and the Sparks season finale.

Not your typical trip into the Big City as it turned into a 13 hour loop. But it did include three minutes with Mr Kris Richardson !

There is Volleyball 🏐 coverage to create for both Junio Varsity and Varsity βž• recapping a meeting with Michele Nicholson and plenty of tweaking left to do in preparation for Saturday morning.

Red Hot Las Vegas put up 20 points before the fans started eating their Popcorn 🍿.

Will start cranking out some stories in just a bit !

Vegas set a WNBA record by hitting 21 3-pointers !!

Plum finished up with 34 minutes played, so she lead the league in that category.

Her 15 points leaves her 4th in scoring and her 8 assists seals another Top 5 in the WNBA. 21-23 for a team that won πŸ† just 8 games all of last season, wraps her initial season in Hollywood.

The final thought for the Day belongs to Coach Howard Mayo :

Amen πŸ™, Brother Mayo !
