The first view of the Kodak moment has arrived ! Mothers Day on the Baseline… Junior Varsity team on the floor with the Varsity team as well..

Hoping that someone πŸ™ might send one in from the Junior Varsity team as well.

It will be hard to imagine that Cindy Edwards and her Lady Cavaliers will face a more experienced team than Patrick County as the Lady Cougars came to The Hill with a line-up that included eight Seniors and five Juniors.

Patrick County rode their experience to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 26-24) Three Rivers District victory over Carroll County Thursday night in the Cavaliers gym at CCHS.

The Lady Cavaliers (2-1,0-1) made a stand in each of the three sets but each time the visitors were able to answer the run. In the opening set PCHS led 22-13 before the Lady Cavaliers strung together four straight points, highlighted by a perfectly timed block from the duo Corrie Delp and Arizona Thompson. Ali Wright cut the deficit to 23-18 with a loud Kill before the visitors closed out the set.

The second set was back and forth as neither team strung together more than three straight points. Brooke Webb landed a Kill to pull Carroll County to within 21-19. Once again, Patrick County was able to regroup, closing out the set with a 25-20 victory.

In the closing set the teams were tied at 10, 11 and 14 before Patrick County explored for an 8-2 run. Trailing 22-16 and on the brink of their night ending, Carroll County made one final stand. Maddie Hyatt was at the service line for the 6-0 run that tied the set at 22. Wright connected twice for Huge finishes of great sets as the team looked to force a fourth set.

Wright tied the set again at 23-23 before the Lady Cougars closed out the night in extras, 26-24

Carroll County High School will compete all day Saturday over in Glade Springs at Patrick County High School. The annual Jamboree style event takes place beginning at 9:00 am with the Lady Cavaliers opening their day at 11am.

Nikki Heflin led her Junior Varsity team for the first time on the home court to begin the night. Aubrey Hanshaw capped a 3-0 run with a Kill to give CCHS an 11-10 lead in the opener. Later, Aaliyah Hampton landed an Ace to get Carroll County within 24-19 before the visitors won 25-19.

In the second set, another Ace from Hampton pulled Carroll County to within one at 13-12. At that point PCHS strung together the longest run of the night, 10 straight and closed out the match, 25-13.

“”The JV girls’ volleyball team played a great game; even though we didn’t win, we saw significant improvement ” said Coach Heflin. ” I’m so proud of the hard work they have put in and how they played tonight!”

Why did the Chicken πŸ” cross the Boulevard ? To get to the Softball programs Celebration on Saturday, September 13th!

What you are reading above is the AI definition of how wide a typical two lane road is. Being that I live in a world 🌎 of analogies and nicknames, I dubbed the two lanes of US-58 Business that divides Softball and Tennis 🎾 from the High School as ” The Boulevard “.

Somedays the Boulevard is just a Hop, Skip and a Jump on the crosswalk but other days, it feels like the Grand Canyon. I have spent the last couple of hours working on ways to make tonight’s Volleyball match more fun for all of the young Ladies in the program.

It dawned on me that there are a number of these young Ladies that play in both programs so its an opportunity to once again, invite people to the Softball event next Saturday afternoon!

It’s safe to cross the Boulevard, just look both ways before you do !

Trace Reavis and the Golfing Cavaliers made the rounds yesterday afternoon at Olde Mill Golf Resort β›³ as the final Three Rivers District match of the season was played…

#18 @ Olde Mill Golf Resort β›³

Β  The funny thing about High School Golf played in the fall is that a great deal of it gets played in the Summer. The football team is 1-0 and the Volleyball team sits at 2-0 while the golfers πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈ are winding down their regular season.

The team scores were as follows :

Floyd County 298 ( This is +10 for four golfers = Insane)

James River 338

Glenvar 344

Carroll County 347

Radford 350

Patrick County 359

Martinsville 518

This brings back memories of Tiger πŸ… Woods in his prime. Floyd County Golf is playing a different sport again this year.

The five schools in the middle were playing for second place and it was quite the battle.

Low 4 of 6 count…

Trace Reavis earned a spot on the First Team All-District and Camden DeHaven claimed a spot on the Second Team. Congrats to both of these young Men!

Minus the Seniors from Patrick County High School, as they had already departed Laurel Fork, here are the District Seniors who have been going head to head over the past four years. Thank You to Kevin DeHaven for getting this to us !

Allen Worrell will have even more coverage on this later today in The Carroll News !!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye : Moms and Daughters tonight on the Baseline for the Introductions !!!

Opening Night πŸŒ™

Same as the First Pitch over at Cavalier Park, Head Coach Cindy Edwards has one wonderful way to create a Memory each time her Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers Volleyball 🏐 team plays at Home 🏑. It’s the Baseline during the time of introductions.

Tonight, we will revisit this by inviting the Mothers in the crowd to come down and stand with their Kiddo when we do our introductions.

In the past, this has created a Kodak moment and we hope to accomplish πŸ™ this once again tonight !
