Earlier today I stopped by the Liberty University at Duke University Field Hockey 🏑 game. My years with App State Field Hockey has drawn me closer to the sport.

Field Hockey is what is called a Non – Revenue sport by some while other places call it an ” Olympic Sport “. Either label describes a contest without a charge for admission.

   Most people tend to equate what it costs to get in to the value of the contest. Seems unfair but it is what it is. High School has Tennis, Cross Country and Swimming 🏊‍♂️ as sports that fall into this category.

  Duke’s Marketing department reached out to a local Ice Cream 🍦shop to partner with for today’s match.

Every fan that attended the match received a free LocoPop Ice Cream bar for their trouble. Duke sent up their Marketing tent ⛺, greeted the fans and passed out high end dessert 🍨.

  Now that admission is $7.00 per person for the majority of High School events, it costs a family of four almost $30.00 and that’s before you buy a bag of popcorn 🍿.

  Looking for ways to give fans a little extra reason to attend your event is just one option on the table.

LA scored 31 in the opening 10 minutes but has slowed down considerably here in the second quarter.

Carroll County broke open a 7-7 tie 👔 by scoring 28 unanswered points and currently lead Christiansburg 35-14, late in the 4th quarter !!!

The home team scored in the closing seconds to pull within 14, Cavs win 35-21!

Let’s start with the Awesome Graphics that Duke uses for Volleyball. It includes three players that rotate through the roster as the season unfolds.

The person holding the 🎤🎙🎤 is in charge of firing up the home crowd as soon as he or she says the first word of the night 🌙.

Lin is here because she is a Volleyball nut, in the same manner that I am about Softball. I am here to watch and listen to try and find an ounce of anything that I can use next week when our Lady Cavaliers host the first of their nine Home matches.

  Why is it so important to me that I get it spot on, from the start of the Junior Varsity match ?

I will use Travis Osborne as an example because I know that next week will be the very first time that his little Girl 👧 will perform in the Gym as a Lady Cavalier.

Brooke Webb, Corrie Delp, Laiken Burnett and Callie Harris will be starting their Senior season after  the Junior Varsity match. Pretty sure that there Parents will be a little bit emotional about that fact

   Kayla Nester will be standing next to Cindy Edwards for the first time. She deserves the best we can do as well.

The Boss has a daughter on the team and I hear that she ran off 12 straight service points in the third set last night 🌙.

Love the Graphics up top and it could be done on Game Day for all three programs, especially when you consider that Head Coach Cindy Edwards is going to be on the sidelines until Astronauts walk on Saturn.

Duke leads the little University from Rhode Island, 18-15 in the opening set.

Only 6 more days until the Lady Cavaliers usher in their home fans for the first time in 2025-2026.

Great Student Athletes wearing the Colors and playing for six Coaches giving them their time and effort.
