Pete Dye and The River Course at Virginia Tech University has brought many a golfer ποΈββοΈto their knees since they started play on the easy on the eyes layout.
Yesterday afternoon, Carroll County High School Senior Trace Reavis shot a blistering -5, 67 on the 7,000 yard course.
Reavis is finishing up a magnificent stay on The Hill over his four years, with an eye on returning to the State Tournament at seasons end. His Junior year concluded with a 10th place finish at Heritage Oaks in Harrisonburg.
Reavis finished as co-medalist with Floyd’s Isaiah Cantrell.
While the 67 alone makes it a great day for the Cavaliers, Reavis had plenty of help from his teammates.

Camden DeHaven carded an eight over par 80 to place second for Carroll County and right behind him was fellow Cav, Fisher McMillian with an 81. The fourth score that counted came off the clubs of Adison McCraw (87).
While the individual achievements for Reavis have become the norm, the second place finish in the seven team District meet brings back memories of past glory days for the program.
The team will make a quick return to the links tomorrow when they return up Interstate 81 to challenge Glenvar High School at Hanging Rock Golf Course.
Team Results :
Floyd County 292
Carroll County 315
Radford 319
James River 328
Patrick County 339
Glenvar 341
Martinsville 364 ( replaced Alleghany)

Fun add on for the golfers reading this story. If you teed off at The River Course and played until you hit the ball 67 times, what hole would you make it to ?
