Breaking News : Our SLOW PITCH Home Run Derby on September 13th will have two brackets : Individual and Family πŸ‘ͺ!!!

Mark your calendar πŸ“…!!!

When the idea first popped into my head I started to think about the Dream Teams like Emma and Travis Leath, Casey and Deana Burcham, Lauren Alley and Dad πŸ‘¨ were just a few examples. Macie Adkins and Dad, or Mom, the possibilities make me smile πŸ˜ƒ

Once Coach Nester signed off on the idea πŸ’‘this morning πŸŒ„, Travis Leath had the misfortune of being on the phone with me so there was an arm to twist ! They are in and Coach Leath promised to go all Babe Ruth and call his shot by pointing to the fence with his Bat before his first cut.

The Softball community will never forget that Coach Burcham included our group when he rolled out the plans for The Castle 🏰 on The Hill. We would love for him to join his Bride πŸ‘° in our attempt to make people smile πŸ˜ƒ.

Mrs. Velvet Leonard will be snapping the shots so we know they will be Top Shelf !

Please share this information with others, when possible πŸ™

Diamonds πŸ’Ž are a Girls Best Friend : Alvin Davidson knows about timing and relationships when it comes to Championship level Softball !

Thank You, Craig Worrell πŸ™

Β  The goal every time I make time to sit down with someone interested in participating with me on this book, the hope is to steal three or four Nuggets from them. The goal isn’t to chase people down and plead with them to share their thoughts and feelings. It is to tell a story about an event that was created by 15 Lady Cavaliers and 15 Lady Panthers that changed their programs and their communities.

Β  What started out as an Easter 🐣 egg πŸ₯š hunt turned into a dump truck of information. So much, that I feel Alvin Davidson will fill a chapter. For the readers in Page County, who don’t know Mr Davidson, his personality is very similar to that of Dennis Zimmerman.

When I mentioned to Alvin about hearing from some of the former players and offered him some examples of the topics I offered up, he was willing to answer one himself.

When was the first time that you believed that the 2015 team could capture the StateΒ  championship ?

Alvin answered back : Speaking in regards to his daughter Gracie and her time line, in the 6th or 7th grade, if we could all get along.

Alvin understands that the most talented team doesn’t necessarily win, its about opportunities and chemistry as well.

My focus here is on relationships that were created pre 2015 and after 2015. How June 13, 2015 changed people’s lives. I understand that to some folks, it was just a game 10 years ago. Not looking to visit with anyone who doesn’t want to share his or her thoughts but everyone who does.

Two great examples are the Non-Worrell Brothers, Allen and Craig. Nothing but πŸ’˜ and respect for the pair and both have willingly opened up their coverage and it will be included. Both have been offered the opportunity to share their personal thoughts as well, while I hope they will, I will respect the fact they might now have anything that they want to add.

Two relationships that I will be focusing in on are the Mr Chuck Thompson and Rick Nester friendship that eventually led to Coach bringing home THE Trophy πŸ†. The second one will be about two old people, one with a 🎀 and the other with a Junior Varsity scorebook teamed up to make some magic.

Travis Osborne and his daughter, Kevin Burress and Angel πŸ˜‡ have been recorded so the invitation stands for any parent who wants to share what the Softball bond means to their Family πŸ‘ͺ. In the same breath, there isn’t time or a need to chase people down for input.

I would love to hear from Travis and Emma Leath, Brad and Sydney Nester so they could line up with the pages that Tracy Moore penned about Tiff.

If you bump into Mr Davidson, ask him about Frank Comer and his not allowing the ‘ River ” contributed to the Carroll County 1-0 victory ??? Great insight with that one. Side Note πŸ“ – Thank him for his service on the School Board !

The story about Principal Chuck Thompson and Coach Rick Nester goes all the way back to when Tommy Thompson’s Son was a student at the School Rick Nester taught at. Insert jokes about students tying up their dinosaur πŸ¦• before coming inside.

If you are out there and have a thought or memory about the relationship with the game of Softball or what it meant to see πŸ‘€ history made, just reach out to me and let me know.

We are creating a memory here and if you have a positive thought that’s one less story that will be my words. The more the merrier is one way to say it and the other is INCLUSION is King 🀴

To borrow from the movie πŸŽ₯ Rainman, Addie’s Grandma is an excellent score keeper !

Diamonds πŸ’Ž are a Girls Best Friend : What would the Wedding πŸ’’ Day have looked like if Kayla Goins had been a society Gal instead of a hard nosed talented Athlete ???

Yesterday afternoon Adam Nester was kind enough to share his thoughts about what June 13, 2015 meant to him and his Family πŸ‘ͺ. It’s not everyday that you have a Daily Double of capturing the first State Championship in your Schools history and then slipping a ring on the finger of the love of your life.

Kayla Goins became Kayla Nester that day and ten years later she is as focused as a Woman can get. Three beautiful children and a career that includes so many things that it resembles Brandi Cochran Mitchell.

Β  Thankfully, the Carroll County Power couple πŸ’‘ were meant for each other and watching πŸ‘€ them grow into their roles as residents of Laurel Fork brings community pride to my Heart ❀.

But in the writers room, what would the wedding day have looked like if the oldest daughter of Scotty and Patti Goins had been, say a Doctor or Hollywood star 🌟? That would be a fun re-write….

Adam and Kayla Nester were meant to be together and both Carroll County and Laurel Fork are better for it !

Going to Let Jimmy Buffett help me out from the Great Beyond as I try to define my efforts with our fourth and final Sports book πŸ“–. Then I’ll let Mrs Tammy Quesenberry sum it up!

Jimmy Buffett taught me how to tell a story and Aaron Sorkin made be want to do it better

This five minute song 🎡 won’t mean a thing to most people but it describes the effort I am putting forth everyday in my efforts to serve God by trying hard πŸ™ to give people Hope.

If you pay close attention, you will see that I don’t put my name on anything that I do because as Tauren Wells sings – It’s not about me. The only time my name appears somewhere is when Allen Worrell gives one of my stories a Byline in The Carroll News. As the song 🎡 says, I’m Nobody from Nowhere.

I will break from my norm and share a real life update.

Last Monday morning, Linda and I checked into the Duke University Medical Center πŸš‘ and for a week, I slept in a chair πŸ’Ί and watched my bride πŸ‘° of 40+ years lay in a bed with 30 wires connected to her Brain 🧠 and six more to her heart ❀ as they try to slow down what is going on with her.

When we finally made it back to Laurel Fork, ahead of my next Medical appointment we have no hot water in our Condo. That was Saturday and now its Wednesday morning and we are still trying to get hot water πŸ’§ and I am typing this from a Hotel room. Side note, my Lab results came back and there’s no improvement on my end.

Other than that, Life is Good !

The reason for sharing this is to show that we all are facing challenges everyday, we are no different in that matter. Everyone needs a reason to have Hope, something that will make them smile and think I’m going to get through this and come out the other side.

Yesterday morning I sat and watched three servicemen from Halls try to figure out how to fix our Water πŸ’§ issue and watched my Wife try to adjust to her new medication πŸ’Š. I am glad that I don’t drink because it would have been easy to do so.

God places people in your Life for a reason πŸ™ and the latest example for me was Mr Alvin Davidson. When you chase something as hard as I do, you look for someone to pass the baton to.

Yesterday afternoon I created more stories in a day than I have in a long, long time. Thanks to Anthony Barnes, they were well read and the stories are designed to make people smile. Barnes is a great partner for two reasons, first is his level of passion for the Student Athletes and because he understands my ultimate goal is to challenge young people to give them a better chance to succeed later in life.

If you pray πŸ™, both Lin and I welcome your Prayers but know that our level of Faith will always make life easier to cope with.

Coming full circle πŸ”΅, Tammy Quesenberry, who is way Smarter than she leads on, finished a messenger conversation with me while I was creating the Syd Nester / Macie Adkins story.

OneofUs.Care is an ongoing search for people that have a desire to improve their corner of the World 🌎. At 5:40 this morning, Addie’s Grandma πŸ‘΅ showed once again, that she gets it ! Alvin Davidson gets it and he tells me that our new Superintendent gets it.

Β  The focus needs to be on preparing our Youth for the future while showing support for the teachers and parents.

Β  Life is difficult enough, there’s no need to make it harder than it has to be.

Bonus being we should have Hot Water by the end of the Day !

This photo πŸ“· is of the latest group of Cheerleaders. It’s here to have the story end on a lighter note and to say Thank You to the new Coaches for their time !

Have a Blessed Day πŸ™Œ and chose Kindness if given the opportunity πŸ™
