Using Cavalier Park for a day of Family Kickball – in a word, Priceless !!!
I was out in Utah when word came in that we had received a $500.00 donation from Hill’s Shoes 👞 towards our High Jump Project !!
Later that day, I wrote a story of gratitude 🙏 and including a promise that when I was back in Carroll County I was going to drive 🚗 down to the Store to personally say Thank You and proceed to buy my next pair of shoes from them.
When you meet someone for the first time, you have NO idea how it will go. Meeting Todd Hill was a perfect example but my Word is who I am, so down to Cana I went.
The first thing worth noting is that Todd shared that Brooks Shoes partnered with him on the donation.
Have to show some Love 💘 to the Shoe Company as well !
Once the conversation started, it preceeded for nearly two hours. A treasure chest of stories about Cana, Carroll County, coaching and playing sports.
First things first, Mr Hill coached Shawn Montgomery back in the day. This is relevant to why Todd chose to get involved with the Track 👣 and Field project. It was Amazing how closely his description of a young Shawn Montgomery matched up all of the reasons behind my appreciation for both Coach Montgomery and Assistant Coach Jon Delp.
Another fun subject was our common appreciation of the Cana based Easter Family 👪. Todd coached Israel back in the day and I have an appreciation for both Kaylee and Isaiah. Kaylee Easter could be the Poster Child for ” Determination ” and the stories about how hard of a time Big Sis gave little Brother explains the strength 💪 and grit that the youngest of the Easter children displays.
I am sure that the two of us had barely scratched the surface when we stopped talking at 5:15. Another great story was about the community gathering around a television 📺 to watch the 1957 National Championship game ( UNC Hoops) that I believe belonged to his Grandfather.
I’m not sure if our paths will ever cross again but I know that everytime I wear my new Dress Shoes, I will remember the Man that helped me help our Track and Field program !
Located just half a mile down from Hill’s Shoes is the Cana Country Store and while I missed William Payne, I was able to leave a note 📝, thanking him for his support 🙏 on the same project !
Such a great trip down the Mountain ⛰

A good day in my World 🌎 is when you can have one true next level conversation. Today was the Daily Double as 11am to 1:45 was spent at Cavalier Park with Mr Davidson and 2:30 until 5:10 down in beautiful downtown Cana
Thank You to both of the fine gentlemen for giving their time ! The next step 🚶♂️ will be to process 5+ hours of conversation and turn it into two enjoyable reads.
Gotta get to work on that now !
Words to Live By !
The goal today is to tie up all of the loose ends involving our recently completed High Jump project. The Bonus item will be meeting with Mr Alvin Davidson about the 2015 Softball team and the bummer part is more Lab work at the Doctors office 🏢.
The pieces to the puzzle include making sure that the ad is ready to run in The Carroll News, making sure that Sherry at Olde Mill has the completed list of the 30 rounds of golf ⛳, the golfers 🏌️♂️know how to play their round of golf and the folks that are due a basketball 🏀 book receive said book 📖. Finally, tying up the two remaining loose ends in regards to the money 💰.
Fortunately for Olde Mill Golf Resort, business is going well so all of the golfers are encouraged to call first and make a tee time.
It’s extremely important to make sure that we have follow up on every part of the process to ensure that everyone who interacted with us on this feels that they were treated in a positive manner !
