How much rain 🌧 is too much rain for the Cavaliers ? That answer comes down to which sport…. Another 48 hours of weather puts a number of contests in jeopardy

Smith River Soccer ⚽️ Complex is next up on the list of venues ready to host a Carroll County High School sporting event as Forrest Johnson is set to head over to Martinsville Wednesday night to face Bassett High School.

It’s been raining here in Martinsville for roughly 48 hours now which begs to question, how much rain is to much rain?

Β  Two Track and Field teams, two Soccer teams, a Baseball ⚾️ team and the Boys Tennis team are all looking to play between now and Friday night πŸŒ™.

The easy one should be the Track and Field teams in Christiansburg on Thursday afternoon because if the past is any indication, they will compete as long as there isn’t lightning in the sky.

Tennis started out at 11am on Monday, went to 4pm on Monday, 4pm on Tuesday and now 230pm on Thursday. The need for dry courts is imperative for the safety of the Student Athletes.

Soccer ⚽️ seems to fit somewhere in between as a damp Pitch won’t postpone a Match but a Duck Pond in the middle might cause some trouble. A muddy track normally slows 🐌 down the pace of the match but for the first time this week, we might have to question whether Wednesday night πŸŒ™ will happen as planned ?

Β  Casey Burcham and Bill Worrell Field have two things working in its favor. First, its not needed until Friday night and second is a little thing called quick dry. Bonus for the Cavaliers and be the availability of the Indoor Hitting Center.

Maybe its fitting, that after a Spring full of wash outs and postponed events, that we are once again at the mercy of the weather forecast.

In the words of Ed Asner in Studio 60, “Make it Stop βœ‹”

If you’re planning on crossing Lovers Leap tomorrow night to support our Cavaliers, it will be wise to make sure its still on and if so, don’t wear your good shoes.

What was once perfectly spaced out, is now quite jumbled up as four Cavalier teams now will compete on Thursday afternoon and evening.

Cavalier Tennis 🎾 getting moved to its fourth time slot on Thursday afternoon takes a well spaced week and kinda turns it upside down.

After spending the entirety of the Spring trying hard to support all 12 teams, the goal was to be there until the very end for as many of them as possible. Now the challenge will be tougher as half of the Varsity teams will be competing inside a six hour window on Thursday.

Brendan Farris and Corrie Delp are advancing to Lynchburg so technically it is not the actual end of Boys or Girls Track and Field, right ?

Ethan Richardson and Maverick Baker are going to advance to the Singles and Doubles portion of Tennis, so its really not the end, is it ?

For Adrienne Harris and her Girls Soccer ⚽️ team its Win at William Byrd High School 🏫 or go home.

2 to 6, 2:30 to 4 and 6 to 7:45 but hey, at least they are all up I-81.

The last time it was a 3 in 1 kinda day, it started with the Knowledge Bowl πŸ₯£, then Regional Swimming πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ and finally Regional Wrestling.

There’s a potential for a great deal of Cavaliers to perform for the final time. Some for the season and others for ever. The good news is that Forrest Johnson and Jeremy Puckett have a stand alone game on Wednesday evening and Casey Burcham has the same on Friday night on The Hill.

Β Β  The theme is this – just like Tim Allen in his middle sitcom, be there for the Last Man (or Woman) Standing.

Thursday just became a bit more tricky because Mother Nature is just mean spirited at times.

If at first you don’t succeed, try try again! Take three on Boys πŸ‘¦ Tennis 🎾 set to take place at 4pm today @ Cave Spring High School

Weather permitting – is anyone else over those two words ? Carroll County High School will try once again to play its team match in the Regional tournament today in Roanoke.

Cave Spring High School will be favored today against our Cavaliers team but don’t rule out a competitive match from Head Coach Christy Shupe and her squad.

Today at 4pm…

Today is the reason why I am such a Fan of All-Things Duke University πŸ’™

It’s not unusual for a morning to start near the Campus of Duke University but this time its a little bit different. Linda and I await our opportunity to meet with the Brain 🧠 Doctor this morning in hopes of finding out more about the situation we are currently in with regards to Lin’s well being.

It’s never been about how many wins a team earns in a given season or how many Bowl πŸ₯£ games our little Football team qualifies for. It’s about Higher Education and the advancement in Medical πŸš‘ technology.

It’s a shame that they don’t make Bobbleheads for Doctors !

If you are someone who prays πŸ™, we welcome that today !
