Getting the opportunity to present Britt Berrier his award would have been cool 😎 enough but getting the opportunity to include the entire Burcham Bunch turned it into my kind of moment.

From my desk to Allen Worrell and then within 60 minutes, to the Eastern Seaboard.

Why should anyone care about this ? Because it shows that Carroll County and Carroll County High School has 12 sports programs in the Spring and we are equally proud of each and every one of them! Not just the ones that are having a Spring to remember but all of them.

It takes quite a bit more effort to create something in this manner but its the absolute quickest way to support all things Cavalier.

Mention as many Student Athletes by name as possible, spreading the wealth across the board.

The young Lady πŸ‘© that I tagged with the burden of being called ” Our Future” had herself a night last night. Even if her Mother was trying to send her to her (Class) room and I wanted to have Officer Chris Mabry escort her from the premises.

Karmen Smith and Adrienne Harris

Adrienne Harris is a competitive young Lady, as much as anyone who I have met recently. But she is equal parts compassionate and last night Harris was in a tough, tough spot as her very first Kindergarten Graduation πŸŽ“ was taking place on the other end of town at 6:30 and her Soccer team was hosting Patrick County High School.

Not everyone at Tommy Thompson Field knew what was happening with the schedule but those of us that did were concerned about her well-being. I truly believe that Caring is something that cannot be taught in a classroom, its part of your DNA. Caring to the degree that people like myself and Miss Harris do can be both Awesome and worrisome at the same time.

Her little Sister, was playing like she was possessed in the second half. Callie knows her Sister pretty well, maybe as well as anyone so she knew if you could help get the score to 3-0 or atleast 2-0, if would allow her Big Sis to head out a few minutes sooner.

Patrick County and their keeper had other plans. Not only did it not get to 2-0, the Lady Cougars found a way to knot it up at 1-1 late in the game, forcing two five minute overtime periods.

Harris eventually made her way to her car to make the short drive πŸš— and Shana Parnell and Brittany Kinney took the reins. Savannah ” I can paint as well as I play Soccer” Swecker ended the dramatic night by putting the biscuit in the Basket for the 2-1 victory.

Fast Forward to the middle of the Junior Varsity game, being played in a driving rain 🌧 storm. Harris, still wearing a dress πŸ‘— returns to stand on the sidelines next to Kinney. Folks, there’s a reason why I see her as our future and it was on full display last night πŸŒ™.

Coach Harris took a minute this morning πŸŒ„ to share her thoughts on the game.

Hard fought game and crazy night last night on the Hill! The ladies came out strong and had many shots but Patrick’s goalie made some huge saves to keep the game close. Callie Harris broke through with around 2 minutes left in the first half to get us on the board with a beautiful assist from Savannah Swecker!! Starting off the second half we had many chances on goal that either barely missed by inches or the Patrick county goalie stepped up and made the saves. Towards the end of regulation Patrick never gave up and they ended up scoring the equalizer. In overtime the girls left it all out on the field and gave it everything they had. Melissa Mize sent around a 30-40 yard pass to Savannah Swecker who finished with the game winning goal! I am so proud of the girls for continuing to fight throughout the entire game. We were inches away from this game being a 3-0 or 4-0 game for us. We also had two goals taken away because of offsides.

Β Β Β  The girls never gave up and kept pushing. Also yesterday was a bit of a crazy day due to the game time being changed multiple times and then I had to leave to go to Kindergarten graduation. I ended up having to leave at the end of regulation and wasn’t able to stay for overtime. I was getting many text updates throughout overtime. I am so proud that when they went into overtime they didn’t panic and they finished the job! Now for our last regular season game today against Martinsville!!

Thanks Coach !
