The Lady Cavaliers get to play the next four games at 🏡🏠🏡 and we have something special planned for all four nights. Beginning with the Floyd County contest tonight when each of our Varsity players will be on the receiving end of a Group First Pitch !
Each young Lady has invited a Woman that made a difference in her life and we will Celebrate them, ahead of Mother’s Day !
The team sits at 3-2 at Cavalier Park, 6-10 overall and is returning home after a huge rally and victory at James River High School. Coach Rick Nester has reminded his group that ending the season with a winning record was still intact but they would need six straight Wins to do it.
The victory at James River made it one down, five to go. Of the five remaining games, Carroll County is 2-3 against the opponents, with victories over James River and Radford.
While the Varsity team is set to play four straight games at Cavalier Park, the Junior Varsity will only be joining them one time. Tonight, they will travel over to Floyd County for their contest.
Tonight we will be one person light in regards to Game Day operations as Miss Macie Adkins will be busy with Graduation 🎓 from Southwest Virginia Community College. Very proud of her two year effort over there. We hope to have Macie back for the remainder of the schedule 📅.

Forrest Johnson, Adrienne Harris, Cory Williams, Jeremy Puckett, Brittany Kinney, Shana Parnell and Brandi Cochran Mitchell have a few things in common with their ties to teaching our youth. Now you can add participating in a stretch of Soccer ⚽️ that feels a great deal like the 50 years of the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.
The home Soccer schedule for all five teams 🏫 were back loaded this season as the improvements to the home side of the bleachers was / is taking place. From Monday May 5tu to Tuesday May 13th there are 15 home contests and 3 ceremonies on the docket.
Thursday night 🌙 was the fourth consecutive Soccer ⚽️ doubleheader played this week and Friday will make it five for five as the Varsity Girls play Glenvar after the Junior Varsity team plays James River.
Monday will be another doubleheader for the Girls and then a triple header on Tuesday ➕ Senior Night for the Lady Cavaliers and both the Track and Field squads.
Thursday night was Youth Soccer night as the Carroll County Recreation Department was front and center during the between match Ceremony. Seeing the long line of the next generation of Carroll County Soccer players standing shoulder to shoulder with the current Cavaliers and Floyd County players was a treat!
The Coaches, the Players and those who helped fund the effort were all acknowledged in front of the crowd. This ceremony followed the Boys 👦 10 person Senior Night back on Monday.
The Junior Varsity team opened the night with a contest versus a brand new Floyd County Co-Ed JV team. The Cavaliers were playing without Aden Puckett due to an arm injury and the offense struggled to keep the offensive attack flowing in the 2-0 setback to the Buffalo 🐃.
Floyd County netted one goal in each half near the midpoint of the 30 minutes and then held off a determined effort down the stretch from the Cavaliers.
The Varsity Cavaliers hit the ground running 🏃♂️ versus Floyd County as Landon Puckett and Judah Collins teamed up for a goal before the first minute was off the clock. The younger Collins brother found the back of the net at 39:02.
Floyd County answered back at 26:37 with a goal from A.J. Miller Junior. The goal would prove to be the loan one allowed by Senior keeper, Christian Hernandez on the night.
Puckett picked up his second assist of the match at 17:00 of the first half when the Senior fed Hez Mejia with a touch pass that the Sophomore placed in the back of the net to give CCHS the lead back at 2-1.
It appeared that 2-1 would be the halftime score but Daniel Torres Lopez found Puckett and his third point was registered during the closing two minutes.
Mejia put the game out of reach late in the second half with the final goal at 17:18 and then the game turned into a showcase for the arm of E.J Conner and the Goalie gloves of Hernandez.
In a one minute span towards the end of the match, Conner launched three consecutive throw-ins that looked to sail 30 plus yards. Football 🏈 Coach Seth Greer might have a new option for some trick plays next fall.
Hernandez was under pressure from a hard charging Buffalo 🐃 team that never gave up. Save after Save became a showcase that reached another level when Hernandez came up with back to back stops ✋ on FCHS Penalty Kicks.
The weather held off long enough but by a small margin as a storm blew through shortly after the final horn sounded.
The Boys teams are slated to return to action 🎬 on The Hill on Wednesday evening May 14th.

The eight game and two Ceremony stretch so far this week has been fun to both announce and later write ✍ about. Its been a treat to share the Press Box 📦 with Ben Tickle all week ➕ work with others in regards to announcing.
Daniel Torres – Lopez was on such a role Thursday night with the Junior Varsity Cavaliers names that we didn’t make our normal Midway switch.
Earlier this week, we had two up and coming young fellas take their turn at the 🎤🎙🎤 for the Middle School game.
Tonight we will start with the rescheduled JV Girls 👧 game before turning things over to Mr Tickle in order to cross the Boulevard for the Varsity Softball game.
The Coaches have done a great deal of coaching during this stretch plus don’t forget about their day jobs. The 15 game total in 9 calendar days doesn’t factor in the 2 road games played by the Boys at Galax. It’s worth noting that last week also included four straight doubleheaders.
Crazy, crazy times for the Coaches and the Parents for sure !
