Brett Petty stays pretty busy nowadays and Saturday was no exception. Petty has taken his appreciation for running πββοΈ to a new level as today he completed a 10K Run !
If everything goes as scheduled our paths will cross tomorrow afternoon in a special edition of Area 9 Special Olympics Basketball π. I think its about some guy named Luke and his Dad, maybe π???
The first two times that the Boys π¦ Soccer team had a Free Gate this season, the deck was absolutely stacked against them in regards to fellow Student Athletes attending the match.
The first time landed on a night π where every other team wS in action π¬ somewhere else. The second time was almost the same thing.
Monday night could be different as the Club celebrates the High School career of eight Seniors and the only other teams in action will be the Tennis teams and they will be finished up before first touch takes place.
Thanks to the combined efforts of Ronnie Collins and his Real Estate company and the Laurel Fork Coconut π₯₯ Telegraph there will be NO CHARGE to enter the gates at Tommy Thompson Field Monday night.
Christian Hernandez, Harper Parnell, Samuel Collins, Mazen Mansour, Landon Puckett, Giovanni Lopez, Thomas Payne, Oliver Lopez and Daniel Torres – Lopez would enjoy your company on their night π in the Spotlight !
Coconut π₯₯π΄ Telegraph, RGC Realty, Forrest Johnson and the Soccer β½οΈ community invite you to the Ceremony and if you have the time, attending the match afterwards.
Maddie Gordon had a record setting four year career under Alan Knight at Page County High School Lady Panthers. It doesn’t seem possible that she is getting ready to graduate from Penn State University.
Nicknamed ” Big Country ” by her Nittany Lion teammates because the town of Shenandoah, Virginia doesn’t stretch much further than Laurel Fork.
The younger of the Gordon sisters has been an amazing ambassador for the game of Softball and in her representation of Page County, Virginia !

Β Β Gone but not forgotten could be the tag for the folks that coach up our Track and Field teams. While the bleacher project made the Soccer β½οΈ home schedules quite the challenge, it eliminated the opportunity for T & F to perform on their Home track π£.
This creates a challenge for a Senior Day ceremony for the group but there’s hope they can sneak in with one of the other seven teams that will be holding one in the coming weeks.
We truly appreciate π the efforts of our duo. One teaches Social Studies and coaches three Cross Country teams while the other wears a badge to protect us in addition to keeping up with a household full of daughters.
Β The answer is getting to share a laugh with ones fellow Laurel Forkian ( I think I just made that word up) about two people not bright enough to come in out of the storm. The world π is a better place with Kris Richardson in it, even if its just long enough to laugh at each other.
Β For three seasons of Carroll County High School Boys π¦ Tennis, the duo playing #1 Doubles was Jabin Talley and Ethan Richardson. The pairing was beyond impressive during their time together, winning 33 times (66)matches, including Regional play.
Talley is one year older than Richardson so there is one year in their four year playing careers that they weren’t paired together. Talley as a Freshman and now Richardson as a Senior.
Talley had his Freshman year cut short due to Covid. When he graduated π last year as the All-Time record holder for total wins at Carroll County High School, 35 of them were recorded from the #1 Doubles slot.
This season, Richardson has moved up from the #2 Singles slot to #1 and has remained part of the #1 Doubles team. The winning has continued at a impressive pace, to the point that Richardson now has more victories in #1 Doubles than anyone else in the recorded history.
Maverick Baker and Richardson have a few more opportunities to grow the number as Carroll County winds up their season under the guidance of Christy Shupe.

Congratulations πππ to Ethan Richardson and best of Luck down the π‘ stretch!
The Hill – Carroll County High School Baseball βΎοΈ Coach Casey Burcham patiently awaited his turn to fulfill his dream of running the Baseball program that he once πβ stared at. Now, as we have reached the second half of the initial season, it’s time to reflect on just how much Burcham has accomplished.
It is worth mentioning that the program was far from despair with Burcham in the number two spot, under the guidance of now Athletic Director Kevin DeHaven. The Junior Varsity team is the five time defending champions and the Varsity program has found recent success on the field as well.
I remember writing β about how I compared Burcham to Mike Young at Virginia Tech University. The thought process being that Young would be at his dream job as long as he was welcome.
Burcham and Steve Combs have been busy as Combs slid up into the #2 spot held previously by Burcham. One cannot make a list of accomplishments without starting with the building of the Indoor Hitting Center but the list doesn’t stop at the one HUGE endeavor.
Bill Worrell Field is alive and well these days and everyone with a connection to the facility is enjoying the rebirth. Yes, the Castle π° on The Hill is magnificent but lets discuss the improved stands in place and the fact that there are banners hanging from one end of the park to the other end.
When times are tough, folks want to remember the good old days. There are no shortage of people who have ties to Worrell Field and Burcham is making it possible for everyone to share in the new look Cavaliers.
The Board
The level of Baseball being played, both on The Hill and on the road is proof to the ” ownership ” of the program. The two top teams currently sit near 30 combined victories against just two losses. They are winning as teams and when they fall short, which is rare, they lose as a team.
One can measure a program by a number of ways, with one being the number of people that are actively involved in helping it grow. Burcham has that part covered as well, just notice the number of Fathers in and around the program on a full time basis.
Family πͺ is a key π part of the equation and there are three generations of Burchams involved in game day operations. The coolest part of the World that Burcham has created in less than just one year is just how humble he has remained through the process. One day at a time, one game at a time.

Burchams Bunch are winning ballgames and its not dependent upon one star carrying the team. The fact that the Nester Nine JV is built the exact same way is beyond impressive π.
It’s hard to start a list of things that Burcham has done inside of his first season but its in part to the folks that he has surrounding him. Quite the team, both on and off the Diamond π.
Behind every Great Man π¨ is a Village that wants to be a part of the team and if he is really fortunate, a Loving β€ Mother that brings you Burger π King π€΄ after another Win !
