Carroll County Girls πŸ‘§ Soccer ⚽️ records its seventh shutout of the season, blanking Alleghany 4-0 on The Hill Monday night πŸŒ™

Carroll County improved to 6-2-2 on the season by duplicating a 4-0 victory over visiting Alleghany High School Monday night at Tommy Thompson Field.

CCHS opened the month of April with a 4-0 victory at AHS and opened the second half of the Three Rivers District schedule with a third victory (3-2-1) in league play.

Alexis Sheffey recorded her seventh shutout of the season against the Cougars and received plenty of support from the other side of the pitch as a trio of Lady Cavaliers found the back of the net.

Savannah Swecker teamed up with Melissa Mize at 15:40 of the first half to score the first goal of the match. Mize kept the ball alive inside of the box and when it deflected off the keeper, Swecker finished off the push from point blank range.

Alleghany High School showed a great deal of improvement on the defensive end, holding the score to 1-0 heading into the halftime break. Carroll County managed to double up the score at 35:50 of the second half with what could only be described as a pinball goal.

Callie Harris found Swecker inside the box and her fellow Junior sent a shot towards the goal that was deflected by a Cougar before finding a home inside of the back of the net.

Carroll County continued to apply pressure throughout the final 35 minutes of play but the teams started the final two minutes of play with the score still 2-0.

Harris changed the scoreboard to 3-0 during the closing stretch and seconds later Sydney Bomberger scored off a feed from Karmen Smith to close out the scoring at 4-0.

The effort was a total team victory as Head Coach Adrienne Harris was able to spread the wealth across her entire roster.

“Overall, tonight was the best game for us when it comes to connecting passes and being composed on the ball,” said Coach Harris. “All 21 players saw the field tonight and made great contributions towards the win!!”

The Lady Cavaliers won’t have long to celebrate the victory as the return to the pitch Wednesday night to host Pulaski County. The team picked up a season opening victory 1-0 in the meeting up in Dublin.

” Our defense also held very strong for the night. I felt like our defense did a great ball of winning the ball composed and then connecting a pass with our midfield to get our offense going,” added Harris. ” Tonight was a great night for the girls and now we move on to Wednesday against Pulaski.”
