Monday πŸŒ™ at Cavalier Park is set to be Paul Nester Night as the Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers Softball host Galax at 5:00 p.m.

We will be celebrating the efforts of Paul Nester Monday night πŸŒ™ at Cavalier Park as we continue our season long Celebration of the folks that gave of themselves to make the latest round of upgrades to our Home Park.

Paul Nester came down and spent a few days creating the brick foundation for the 34 new seats πŸ’Ί. Nester was even kind enough to coach me and then let me lay on of the bricks.

Β  Paul Nester will begin the festivities by tossing out or Ceremonial First Pitch !

The Galax game is a makeup game after having to be postponed earlier in the season.

Β  Nester’s and Celebration go hand in hand this weekend and Head Coach Rick Nester is celebrating three generations of Family πŸ‘ͺ Birthdays πŸŽ‚. Wife, Son and Granddaughter each getting Birthday Cake!!

Join us for the First Pitch and Softball game at Cavalier Park, getting underway just before 5:00 pm.

9 hours and 4 minutes worth of College Baseball ⚾️ announcing is a new personal One Day record, hanging out with Ryan Kessinger and Alleghany High 🏫 was such a Bonus !!

Three College Baseball programs that are spread across the eastern seaboard met for a second straight day on Sunday. This time it was a round robin triple header, beginning at 11:00 am and ending shortly after 8pm.

Georgia Gwinnett College won the opener 10-3 over Fisher and exacted revenge over West Virginia Tech 13-5 in the middle game. After the final out the Grizzlies loaded up the bus 🚌 to head back to Lawrenceville, Georgia.

The #2 ranked program in the NAIA wrapped up its stay at 3-1 and now sits at 36-4 on the season.

West Virginia Tech scored five runs πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈin the bottom of the first in the night πŸŒ™ cap and held on for a 5-3 victory over Fisher College.

One of the highlights in the day was getting to welcome Three Rivers District member, Alleghany High School to Linda K Epling Stadium 🏟. The Cougars Baseball ⚾️ team and Coaches took in part of the day long action 🎬. Making the 82 minute drive πŸš— over made for a fun day for the Cougars and added to the largest home crowd of the season.

Kessinger was a staple in the Golden Bears 🐻 lineup for his four year stay back when the School was still located in Montgomery and played our home games at East Bank, WV.

Games 6 & 7 of the seven game series are set for Monday morning πŸŒ„ and then the Falcons will head back to Boston.

Thursday April 17th stands to be a Red Letter Day in the history of Carroll County High School as 12 Cavalier teams are set to compete on the same day !

Β  Having 10 of the 12 Spring teams in action 🎬 on the same day has happened before, with Boys and Girls Track πŸ‘£ and Field being the teams not competing.

But this Thursday night πŸŒ™, weather permitting, we will make a little history. If we had a crack staff of researchers like at ESPN, we could verify if and when this has ever occurred before.

The catch your breath portion of the BIG DAY is that the School programs will be dormant the following four days as we celebrate Easter.

The fact that the Girls JV Soccer team has been out of action for a few years makes me comfortable in saying the 12 for 12 hasn’t happened recently. If anyone out there knows of it ever taking place before I would πŸ’˜ to hear about it.

For the sake of sanity let’s hope that our Athletic Director πŸ™ has a bright 🌞 and Sunny Day on Thursday!

Six conference games remaining as Golden Bears 🐻 Baseball looks to make the River States Conference Tournament..

West Virginia Tech University currently sits 1+1/2 game back of the sixth and final post season slot. Midway(Kentucky) is the team to catch as the final two weeks play out.

Oakland City can pull into a tie for the top spot by defeating Midway at home today and if they do so, the Golden Bears 🐻 will be just one game behind!

Midway faces Brescia &  IU Columbus in their final two weekend series.

Golden Bears 🐻 now 1 game behind Midway and 3 behind Brescia with six to play.

From the Desk of Vickey Ritchie, leader of Carroll County Area 9 Special Olympics!

Later today Coach Ritchie will gather our Special Olympics Athletes for an Early Easter celebration and then the normal Basketball πŸ€ scrimmage.

Coach took the time this week to share a motivational speech from Denzel Washington. We have added the link here and hopefully πŸ™ the message will assist some folks.

Here’s hoping that the afternoon is a tremendous experience for all that gather !
