Boys Head Coach Christy Shupe and her Tennis πΎ squad had a little breathing room in their match with the Maroon Tide, winning 7-2 over Galax on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Martin McKenzie and his Girls team was good to the last drop (shot) as they snuck past Galax 5-4.
The Boys flirted with sweeping the six singles matches as the top four cruised to victory.

” Everybody played well across the board. Our 5 and 6 seed battled the whole time in tightly contested matches. Eli just came up a little short.”
The top two doubles teams added to the lead, ending the match at 7-2.

McKenzie and the Girls headed over to Galax for their match and this one came down to the wire.

” Galax has improved a great deal over the past month,” said McKenzie. ” The match came down to the final doubles match.”

Both squads will be back in action π¬ today as we square off with Patrick County. Boys remain on The Hill and the Girls head to Stuart.
The Sheetz store on the corner of Electric Avenue and Apperson Drive was the 17th place I checked for a copy of the Wednesday Roanoke Times newspaper π°.
Β They were down to just two copies so I now have one for the Easter Family πͺ and one for Coach Anthony Barnes. Once I got started at 10:30 pm, I just wouldn’t stop until I accomplished my mission.
