
Head Coach Casey Burcham took his Cavaliers up I-81 to face Glenvar and the Varsity Skipper picked up another victory, this time a Three Rivers District W.

” We beat Glenvar tonight 4-1.Β Dalton Busick lead us offensively with 2 hits.Β Britt Berrier had a 2 RBI single that was big for us tonight.Β
Ben Phillips threw 4 innings giving up 1 hit and 1 earned run striking out 5.Β Colby Goad threw the last 3 innings giving up no runs and only one hit for the save.
All around good team win.”
The Cavaliers are set to return to action Friday night when they host District foe James River High School at Bill Worrell Field.

Head Coach Adam Nester picked up his seventh straight victory to start the season as the Nester Nine jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and never looked back.
Leadoff hitter Chanson Rakes doubled to start the rally and added a walk later in the rally as CCHS sent 11 batters to the plate. The Cavaliers benefited from four walks and four wild pitches while putting the game on the edge of being over.
Reid Horton drew the start on the mound and pitched into the fifth inning before being relieved by Colton Quesenberry. The duo combined to limit the Highlanders to a pair of fifth inning runs while totalling nine strikeouts.

The Lady Cavaliers found themselves deep in a pitchers duel, trailing the Highlanders 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Glenvar plated two runs in the inning to push the lead out to 3-0 and that would prove to be the final score in the District opener.
” Defensively we played really well tonight ” said Head Coach Rick Nester. ” We only committed one error tonight but just couldn’t come up with the big hit when we needed it.”
Emma Harman started the game for the Lady Cavaliers and pitched into the fifth inning and gave way to Addie Greene. The duo held the Highlanders in check, allowing a season low three runs but they simply ran into a tough pitcher having a great night.
Carroll County returns to action on Friday night at Cavalier Park when the Knights of James River visit The Hill.
Fort Chiswell JV Softball 12, Carroll County 1.
Carroll County JV were forced to find an opponent outside of the District as Glenvar is not fielding a Junior Varsity team this season. CCHS came up short against Fort Chiswell. The team continues to gain valuable experience under Head Coach Alexis Dalton.
The younger version of the Lady Cavaliers are also set to host James River Friday night at home.
Carroll County High and Glenvar High four more times – twice in Tennis πΎ and twice more in Boys soccer β½οΈ. It’s the hope to add those results to this story.
