The Gymnasium forΒ  3 Volleyball 🏐 teams and four BasketballπŸ€ .teams.

It was fun to hang out and assist the efforts of Coach Nester. Working alongside Seth Gravley was just icing on the perverbial Cake πŸŽ‚.

Diamond πŸ’Ž play x 4 for the Carroll County High School 🏫 Cavaliers…

Head Coach Casey Burcham took his Cavaliers up I-81 to face Glenvar and the Varsity Skipper picked up another victory, this time a Three Rivers District W.

Coach Burcham takes us inside the chalk to describe the effort.

” We beat Glenvar tonight 4-1.Β  Dalton Busick lead us offensively with 2 hits.Β  Britt Berrier had a 2 RBI single that was big for us tonight.Β

Ben Phillips threw 4 innings giving up 1 hit and 1 earned run striking out 5.Β  Colby Goad threw the last 3 innings giving up no runs and only one hit for the save.

All around good team win.”

The Cavaliers are set to return to action Friday night when they host District foe James River High School at Bill Worrell Field.

Head Coach Adam Nester picked up his seventh straight victory to start the season as the Nester Nine jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and never looked back.

Leadoff hitter Chanson Rakes doubled to start the rally and added a walk later in the rally as CCHS sent 11 batters to the plate. The Cavaliers benefited from four walks and four wild pitches while putting the game on the edge of being over.

Reid Horton drew the start on the mound and pitched into the fifth inning before being relieved by Colton Quesenberry. The duo combined to limit the Highlanders to a pair of fifth inning runs while totalling nine strikeouts.

The Lady Cavaliers found themselves deep in a pitchers duel, trailing the Highlanders 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Glenvar plated two runs in the inning to push the lead out to 3-0 and that would prove to be the final score in the District opener.

” Defensively we played really well tonight ” said Head Coach Rick Nester. ” We only committed one error tonight but just couldn’t come up with the big hit when we needed it.”

Emma Harman started the game for the Lady Cavaliers and pitched into the fifth inning and gave way to Addie Greene. The duo held the Highlanders in check, allowing a season low three runs but they simply ran into a tough pitcher having a great night.

Carroll County returns to action on Friday night at Cavalier Park when the Knights of James River visit The Hill.

Fort Chiswell JV Softball 12, Carroll County 1.

Carroll County JV were forced to find an opponent outside of the District as Glenvar is not fielding a Junior Varsity team this season. CCHS came up short against Fort Chiswell. The team continues to gain valuable experience under Head Coach Alexis Dalton.

The younger version of the Lady Cavaliers are also set to host James River Friday night at home.

Carroll County High and Glenvar High four more times – twice in Tennis 🎾 and twice more in Boys soccer ⚽️. It’s the hope to add those results to this story.

Junior Varsity Baseball set to take the lead spot tonight as Eight of our 12 teams are set to play ▢️ ball ! βž• Golden Bear 🐻 Baseball ⚾️ doubleheader in Charleston, WV.

The Hill – Carroll County JV Baseball ⚾️ is 6-0 and set to host the Glenvar Highlanders at Bill Worrell Baseball Field and this will be Ground Zero for the efforts to gather all eight scores from tonight’s action 🎬.

Adam Nester has hit the ground running πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ after taking over as Head Coach after Steve Combs moved up to become the Assistant Coach of the Varsity program. Six games = six victories, five by shutout and they won by the slimmest of margins & the widest along the way.

The tempature reads 46° but the wind tells a different story. But baseball ⚾️ is baseball. so they show will go on.

Junior Varsity Baseball started out with 18 players but is now at 16. Blake Reed has joined the Varsity team and Dane Leonard is in a walking πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ boot πŸ‘’.

It’s 4pm now and this Post πŸ“« will run through the end of the night πŸŒ™ so check back early and often as its a BUSY night for the Cavaliers !

” Let me Win, but if I cannot win, Let me be Brave in my attempt.”

Late last night πŸŒ™, shortly after the Florida Gators completed their Season of Comebacks by defeating Houston for the National Championship, the camera πŸ“· picked up on Gator players trying to console the Cougar players that were on the floor.

It was a Moment that gave me hope, even if it was just for a moment or two. I live on the outskirts of the Town called Winning is Everything. It’s a small community of people that believe that it still matters how you represent oneself.

The past few days have been filled with many a contest that has not gone in the direction of the team that we choose to support but it doesn’t change the level that we support them, not even a little.

Last night, Adrienne Harris and her Girls Soccer ⚽️ team ran into a buzz saw that is Glenvar.

Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers

West Virginia Tech University dropped two out of three and the two setbacks were by a wide margin.

Coach Nester and Donna spent Saturday afternoon with Macie Adkins and her teammates at Southwest Virginia Community College. The home team was swept in a double header that day, without scoring a run. I’m sure they all enjoyed each others company just the same.

Jabin Talley was surrounded by Family πŸ‘ͺ on Friday afternoon when he dropped his latest Tennis 🎾 match.

Thursday night, the Carroll County Softball team fell 6-5 at Tazewell High. The walkoff victory for the Bulldogs was the second consecutive setback for the Lady Cavaliers. Not the norm for the program. The JV team lost 9-8 in a game where time was called, ending it early.

My Wife’s College Basketball πŸ€ team suffered a loss on Saturday night πŸŒ™ that will be talked about for quite sometime now. Note πŸ“, my Duke Women’s team gave up a fourth quarter lead in their bid to get to Tampa (Final Four).

We can’t all be like the Nester Nine, now can we ? Head Coach Adam Nester sits at 6-0 heading into their game tonight on The Hill. Five of the six wins have been by shutout. Promo here as the JV Baseball ⚾️ team has The Hill to itself tonight. [Boys πŸ‘¦ Tennis 🎾 also Home]

Getting back to my framed work of Art and the Special Olympics motto, sportsmanship is or should be the focus each and every time that folks compete with one another. Carroll County earned one victory in a total of four games on Saturday but our Athletes left Lexington knowing that they gave their best efforts.

Sports has always been designed to be an outlet for people. Both the participants and the people that support them, could get away from the real world 🌎 and all of its challenges.

Teams are going to win some, lose some and in some sports, tie πŸ‘” some. Remember to take the time to enjoy the couple of hours that we get to take a break from reality and enjoy the ball game(s).

Especially the parents who are watching their Kiddos compete, there will come a time when they won’t be playing the games they love any longer. Enjoy the opportunity to watch them play while you can and consider it a bonus when the are victorious.

If you see them ask like a Florida Gator did last night, stand up and applaud πŸ‘.

Wasps Women’s LaCrosse

We will end the post πŸ“« on a happy note πŸ“ by adding that Natalie Harris and E & H win a game 20-5 on Sunday, a few days after losing one 22-3. My guess is that Marion and Shelia were equally proud after both contests.
