Oops, they Both did it again ! JV Baseball ⚾️ and Girls πŸ‘§ Varsity Soccer ⚽️ each moved to 3-0 with a third consecutive shutout!

Perfecto

Β  The fun part of the incredible fast starts that two Carroll County High School teams are off to is that there’s no need to rank them against each other. Just enjoy the moment(s) being created by the Student Athletes and their coaches.

Β  It would be hard to tell which is more unlikely, three straight Baseball shutouts or three straight Soccer games with the word nil describing the opponents score??

Β Β  Adam Nester took over a program that many could argue is the most successful group on The Hill. Steve Combs and Nester had coached the group to five straight Three Rivers District πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ† crowns πŸ‘‘.

Now that Nester is running the show the team was expected to compete for yet another trophy but it would be hard to have predicted that the combined score would be 49-0 after three games. Not even sure which is the more impressive number in that, 49.  or ZERO??

In regards to the Girls Soccer team, there would be a bit more of a surprise to the red hot start. Not only is Coach Adrienne Harris in her first season but the team is playing without the programs All-Time leading scorer, Ashlyn Newman. The recent graduate πŸŽ“ took to the Pitch with a certain level of confidence, one that most aren’t fortunate enough to possess.

This years 3-0 start comes with a combined score of 10-0 with the victories coming over Pulaski County, Martinsville and Galax. Callie Harris has netted seven of the 10 goals and Alexis Sheffey has kept the ball from getting past her in goal. But Soccer ⚽️ is a team sport so Harris couldn’t score without passes setting her up and Keepers rely upon their defensive backs to help them out.

Yesterday, I made a Top Ten list about the fast start that Harris and Nester were off to. Then both squads went out and did the unthinkable by recording a third straight shutout. It has to end eventually but its fun to watch while it happens.

One thing is for sure, the double up game of the younger Harris is going to end at Alleghany in the next game.

1 goal in Game 1 at Pulaski County turned into 2 goals at Martinsville which became 4 goals at Galax. 1+1=2 and 2+2 is 4. To continue to double up the previous game, that would be eight goals, some kind of record.

Both of these young Coaches have a very proud Mother πŸ‘© cheering them on and each has a Father πŸ‘¨ that is smiling and saying, maybe they were paying attention when they watched me Coach!

Junior Varsity Baseball ⚾️ keeps steam rolling along as Head Coach Adam Nester checks βœ” in with the details of Victory #3

Baseball ⚾️ 🧒 had themselves a Night, including the JV team !

Teaser before the story :

Head Coach Adam Nester will send in some games notes πŸ“ about his third straight shutout to start the season. Until then, I wanted to acknowledge his efforts tonight. Nester is in his first season trying hard to replace Local Legend, Steve Combs.

Β  Three games in and three shutouts posted ! The final score was 26-0 and we are looking forward to hearing all about it later !

Jabin Talley falls short in South Carolina but leaves quite the impression on the Home team Coach

Flying Eagles played at Columbia (SC) College Wednesday.

Waldo Bosch is here from South Africa πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦ and plays Tennis 🎾 for Columbia College in the #1 spot.

Bosch defeated Talley in straight sets but our CCHS πŸŽ“πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“ pushed Bosch to the point where the Columbia College coach checked on the availability of Talley after his time at the Community College !!

The future holds opportunity for young Tally and we are excited about the journey!

Carroll County High School Girls πŸ‘§ Soccer sweeps both neighboring Galax teams,Β  12-0 combined  as Callie Harris earns a new Hat πŸ‘’!

Carroll County JV opened up the double header with a convincing 7-0 victory and the Varsity team followed up with a 5-0 triumph on a less than warm night at Galax High School.

Callie Harris continues to enjoy playing for her Big Sis, Head Coach Adrienne Harris. The youngest Harris daughter found the back of the net four times across the eighty minutes. One of the goals came by way of an early Penalty Kick, one on a play where the goal keeper was shaken up and the final two in the more traditional manner.

Savannah Swecker also put the biscuit in the basket 🧺 for the fast starting Varsity squad that now stands at 3-0-0  in the debut season for Coach Harris. Alisia Torres Lopez assisted on the Swecker goal.

Β Β Β  The goal totals for the start of the season is 10-0 with little Sis accounting for seven of the goals. The entire team is gaining confidence on the offensive side of the field. Both Karmen Smith and Ahliyah Riffey added assists tonight as the aggressive team play is paying immediate dividends.

” Callie has really stepped up to the plate this season,” said Coach Harris.”  She is moving more into a goal scoring role.”

Now that we have talked a bit about the ten goals, let’s switch to the other side of the Pitch. Zero goals allowed across 240 minutes of play comes from a combination of tough defense and flawless goal attending. Alexis Sheffey continues to maintain a clean scoring sheet at keeper with a huge assist going to the defensive unit playing in front of her.

On the Junior Varsity side, six different Lady Cavaliers found the back of the net as the team scored for the first time this season. Carroll County (1-2) played two tough games to open the season and the Galax match-up came at a perfect time for the Coach and her crew. Seven goals can do wonders for the confidence of a young squad. Eva Ramirez lead the way with her first two goals on the season.

Carroll County continues its stretch of away games on April 2nd when the Lady Cavaliers travel to the Highlands to face Alleghany High School. The team will play its first seven contests away from The Hill due to some improvements being made to Tommy Thompson Field.
