” Varsity recap – Win 1-0
Varsity kicked off the season against Pulaski county on Wednesday night. The girls got on the board quick scoring within the first 10 minutes of the game. Ahliyah Riffey drew a foul at the top corner of the 18 yard box and won a free kick. Karmen Smith stepped up and took the long shot from outside of the box and put it on frame.

   The goalkeeper deflected the shot and it landed at Callie Harris’ feet and she buried the volley into the back of the net!!! The girls held on strong with the lead for the remainder of the game. Pulaski had a few opportunities down the stretch but the defensive line of Laurel Sutphin, Harleigh Riggins, Karmen Smith, Elena McKenzie, and Alexis Sheffey in goal all played a strong game leading to the clean sheet.

    On the oppposite side of the field Ahliyah Riffey and Savannah Swecker both had multiple very dangerous opportunities on Pulaski’s defensive line and kept a high pressure on them throughout the entire game. I would also like to recognize a few in the midfield who really stood out throughout the game. Melissa Mize and Callie Harris both stepped up and really anchored down the middle of the field.

   Overall, the young Cavaliers had a beautiful night of soccer along with a great first win of the season !”

Dane Leonard drove in five runs on three hits to lead Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers past Bassett Junior Varsity Bengals 25-0 on Wednesday. Dane Leonard singled in the first inning, scoring one run, and singled in the third inning, scoring one.

Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Chanson Rakes singled, scoring one run, Reid Horton doubled, scoring one run, Conner Reece doubled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Colton Quesenberry singled, scoring two runs, Reid Horton singled, scoring two runs, Conner Reece grounded out, scoring one run, and Dane Leonard singled, scoring one run.

Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers added one run in the second. Will Love singled to right field, making the score 12-0.

Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the third inning. Peyton Goad singled, scoring one run, Jayden Wright singled, scoring one run, Clay Quesinberry singled, scoring one run, Bryce Nicholson drew a walk, scoring one run, and Dane Leonard singled, scoring one run.

Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers scored eight runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. An error scored one run, Will Love drew a walk, scoring one run, Clay Quesinberry was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Bryce Nicholson drew a walk, scoring one run, Dane Leonard was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Chase Branch drew a walk, scoring one run, Eli Busick singled, scoring one run, and Caleb Bradley induced Grayson Webb to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Reid Horton earned the win for Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking none. Colton Quesenberry and Bryce Nicholson each threw shutout innings for Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers in relief.

Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers amassed 21 hits in the game. Dane Leonard and Jayden Wright each collected three hits for Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers. Klay Dalton, Chase Hart, and Reid Horton each collected multiple hits for Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers. Bryce Nicholson paced Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers with two walks.

   Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Carroll County Junior Varsity Cavaliers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
