Β Β Tonight at 7:45 pm Carroll County High School Boys Basketball π will take the floor at Pulaski County High School to play Cave Spring for a second time this season. The teams first met almost two months ago on another neutral court over at Floyd County.
CCHS moved their mark to 10-0 that day with a 15 point victory over a solid well coached team. This time will be different because the winner π advances to the State Tournament and the other will make arrangements to return their jerseys.

Six Seniors and Six Juniors combine to fill out the roster of the 22-1 club. Tonight is the Regional Semi-final between our #2 Cavs and #3 Cave Spring. It will be game two on the night as #1 Northside opens play against #5 Hidden Valley.
Four starters and two reserves will be cap their time on The Hill by reaching the Hoops Promise Land tonight. One more victory guarantees two more opportunities to wear the uniform for Head Coach Anthony Barnes.
The team has already moved past the disappointment of watching Davis Reitzel crumble to the floor last season during the District tournament. The injury led to the loss that knocked the #1 seed Cavaliers out of the post season in the opening game. A few weeks later the Class 3 State crown π stayed within the Region as Northside celebrated at the end of the season.
Β Two years ago the question was how will the team fair without 6’5 Elijah Cox after the team fell at Tunstall. Last year it was Davis Reitzel that played his last game against Abingdon. Both of those teams had other Seniors but those were the Big Two.
This season has been different as its been a TEAM effort on both ends of the floor. Five players taking turns leading the way, a balanced attack that exists because of unselfish attitudes.
Β One more victory over a familiar opponent and the team gets to travel back to the Land of Fazollis, also known as Dublin, Virginia. Not only do they get a shot at a third Regional banner but it also guarantees a game next Tuesday night.
Barnes has referred to the season as The Last Dance πfrom the beginning. Here’s hoping that the Cavaliers will avoid returning their uniforms for a while yet.
Win or Lose tonight, its been a fun experience to ride on the Cavalier Express the past few months. If you are going to head up Highway 100 later, please remember to bring your Pride !
