Two hard fought victories and some losses that were closer than the scores reflect in our matches against Galax tonight.
All-Around: CCHS 38 – Galax 70
English: CCHS 25 β Galax 50
Math: CCHS 38 – Galax 65
Science: CCHS 55 β Galax 45
Social Studies: CCHS 70 β Galax 68
We’re on the road next week on Tuesday against Fort Chiswell and home on Thursday against Grayson. Come out and play trivia with us!
Β Β The Math team had pulled back into a tie game situation before the balance unfortunately tipped in Galax’s direction in the last half of the toss up round.
Science stayed uncomfortably close, but Connor Beasley was able to pull through with toss up points to secure the win.
Tonight’s questions stumped both Science teams, both perennial Science powerhouses.English had a difficult directed round with novels giving them trouble, but they rallied in toss up behind buzzes from Jack Wright and Trenton Newman.
The rally was just a little too late to catch Galax. Bradley Dalton and Jacob Talbert held down the majority of the toss up points to edge out Galax by two points.
Social Studies was a tight round. 150 is a perfect score and the final score added up to 138… meaning only two questions went unanswered in the whole match.
And if you’re new to MACC and wondering, questions are worth five points and you lose two points if you buzz in early with a wrong answer.
And sometimes those two points really matter!
Thank You Mrs. Dalton for taking the time to keep us in the know !
