The Hill – Ethan Richardson led the offense with 18 points but the lanky Senior had plenty of company in the scoring column as Carroll County caged the Bobcats, 78-58. The victory moved the team to 13-0 with Galax coming across US-58 on Saturday afternoon.

Isaiah Easter poured in 16 points and snagged 7 rebounds while Cody “Double, Double ” Reece added 15 points and 11 rebounds. The balanced attack did not stop there as Bryce Smoot (15 points) and Brayden Smoot (12 points) made it a perfect five for five.

Radford jumped out early as the Bobcats were dialed in from 3-point range in the first quarter. Four baskets from downtown accouted for 12 of the visitors 18 points. CCHS outscored Radford 21-18 in the opening frame but they answered the call from the bench to tighten up the defense.

The victory was connected to the fact that the home team won every quarter. The knockout punch πŸ‘Š took place in the final frame when CCHS outscored Radford 22-13.

” We are playing with alot of confidence and have something to prove . Great bunch of players that have bought into my style and my coaches style of play,” said Head Coach Anthony Barnes. ” Thats to get after it , control the boards push the ball down the court into transition.  Shout out too my Coaches,  Richardson, Phillips,  Stockner and Largen they give everything they have and the guys Respond. How about then Jvs and HOW
ABOUT THEM CAVS AND CAVALIER NATION !”

The atmosphere in the Gymnasium was on par for a post season game and the opposing Coaches were playing a serious game of chess throughout the contest. Barnes took the time to share his thoughts on his Big Men,

“Reece Train with 15-11. I push Cody hard, I know whet he is capable of doing and he responds,” added Barnes. “Great minutes by Landon (Puckett) and Trace (Reavis).  They are playing with alot of confidence and have something to prove .”

Nobody knows if and when the Cavaliers will fall for the first time but if the team plays the way they did tonight, it might be a ways down the road. One of the challenges Barnes has ahead of him is the need to squeeze in the multitude of postponed games. That part of the mission begins Saturday afternoon when the Cavaliers will try to host Galax for the third time.

The Varsity team is not the only hot team on Campus as the Junior Varsity team improved to 9-3 after defeating Radford 63-44. Once again the games mirrored each other as Head Coach Jason Stockner watched four of his starters finish up in double figures.

Hayden Jackson led the way with 15 points. Blake Reed, Colton Gravley and Dane Leonard all finished with a dozen points.

Galax on Saturday afternoon, hoping to once again πŸ™ have the teams play in front of a full house 🏠.
