Friday Night πŸŒ™ on The Hill could have easily have been Parents Night as the Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers pushed Alleghany to the brink.

JV Jump Ball

When you criss cross a wide variety of High School 🏫 Sports in the manner that I do, you never find oneself in the exact same spot.

Β  Tonight at 7:05, Carroll County High School Girls πŸ‘§ Varsity Basketball πŸ€ team took the court against a 9-3 Alleghany squad.

Β  Lin’s work schedule doesn’t always allow her to sit in the Bleachers with me. She was with me tonight and asked me about this years team I had to smile.

Well, I pointed at Callie Harris and said you know Marion and Shelia. Next up I point out CC Mitchell and then to where Ron Cochran and Brandi Cochran Mitchell are sitting. Then its Laynie-Jo Leonard and I point over to Velvet and her family πŸ‘ͺ. This went on until the roster was completed.

Β  I never found Mrs Coleman in my search but I think you should have an idea πŸ’‘of the thought process. I can’t remember another time when I was at a game where I knew all of the people who were living and dying with every possession.

Β  Tonight, the Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers made their Coach smile and their Parents even more proud, if that’s possible.

CC Mitchell found the bottom of the net three times from behind the 3-point line and looked very comfortable launching the shots.

Madison Coleman played with I like to call Instant Energy. Callie Harris looked fearless in her attempts to drive to the hoop. Laynie-Jo Leonard and Raylee Goins played their hearts πŸ’• out and I could feel their Mother’s smiling.

Dad’s were part of the equation as well. Looking around and seeing πŸ‘€ Kevin Burress, Chris Leonard, Mr Goins. They were all there trying hard to will their Daughters to a victory.

I will eventually sit down and write ✍ an actual Game Story describing the 54-45 setback. CCHS faced this same Cougar team six days ago and struggled to stay in the contest.

Β  The team will get back at it on Monday night πŸŒ™ when Magna Vista visits The Hill. We won’t know how the next game will play out or the one after that but for an evening there was a great deal of people saying – That’s My Little Girl out there!

Still to come – Varsity gamer, Junior Varsity gamer and a prelude of Saturday when Galax visits.

Breaking News (from six months ago) from Laurel Fork in regards to Adam Nester and JV Baseball βšΎοΈ

Carroll County High School Athletic Director Darrin Mathews started a domino effect last year when he retired from his position.

Kevin DeHaven slid over into the AD position from his spot as Baseball Head Coach.

Casey Burcham moved up from Assistant Coach to the Head Coach position.

Steve Combs moved up from the Junior Varsity Top Spot to the Assistant Coach slot on Varsity, next to Burcham.

This is where I dropped the (Base)Ball by not congratulating Adam Nester on his promotion to Junior Varsity Head Coach.

We can now also give a tip of the ball cap to Mr. Ryan Phillips as he takes over the Junior Varsity Assistant Coach spot…

Better Late than never, right ?

Congratulations Adam & Ryan !!!
