A. S. P. N = Academics, Sports, Pageantry Network

What’s in a name ? We have landed on a catchy new identification to replace the Carroll County Sports Report. Please notice that Academics comes first in the batting order.

The most notable change in the mindset is the focus will be on helping those who want to be helped versus trying to force feed coverage where its not desired. The duo of Anthony Barnes and Kris Richardson will be the center of attention for the coming months as we have built something over the past few years.

The goal was to get more movement towards Academics and Clubs but it has been a slow 🐌 go so far but it’s a Marathon not a Sprint.

The goal is to produce a minimum of one positive story per day in hopes of raising the spirits of anyone that reads the work.

In regards to the stories, most are written for one person or group and I encourage they or them to take the story and run with it. Per the norm, Mr Allen Worrell and the Carroll News has an open invite to use any story that sits on the site.

When you’re sitting at the Brain 🧠 Doctor for your Wife’s 4 Hour Appointment there’s time to write ✍ about Anthony Barnes and Kris Richardson !

Carroll County High School 🏫 Boys πŸ‘¦ Basketball πŸ€ team is geared up and ready to go. Saturday morning πŸŒ„ at 10am they will host / play their second and final scrimmage under the watchful eyes πŸ‘€ of Head Coach Anthony Barnes and Assistant Coach Kris Richardson.

The 2023-2024 season was as successful as any in recent decades but the three Seniors that led the way will need to be replaced. Davis Reitzel and Jabin Talley were both starters on the team and Noah Manning played key πŸ”‘ minutes along the way.

Reitzel will be a double void as the graceful Big Man πŸ‘¨was quite possibly the most popular player in the School 🏫 no matter the sport.

Three remaining starters, Bryce Smoot, Ethan Richardson and Isaiah Easter are all ready to hit the ground running πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ. Brayden Smoot and Cody Reece were the first two of the bench all season so both will have Bigger sneakers πŸ‘Ÿ to fill.

Here’s a look at the Roster :

Brayden Smoot #1
Bryce Smoot #3
E.J. Conner #5
Landon Phillips #10
Isaiah Easter #12
Isaiah Leagans # 13
Ethan Richardson #20
Jay Burnette #22
Kyle Bunn #24
Landon Puckett #32
Cody Reece #34
Trace Reavis #50

Here’s what we know going in with regards to the 2024-2025 team. They will play end to end from start to finish and will make up for their lack of height with speed and physical condition. If the Cavaliers are in the game in the fourth quarter, look for them to have more fuel left in the tank than their opponent.

Bryce Smoot is still a bit dinged up from the recently completed Football season but will hopefully be back to his normal self soon enough.

Richardson will continue with double duty as the Senior swims πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ for CCHS during the Hoops season.

Easter has displayed a Year to Year improvement that has been off the charts. His efforts πŸ‘ in the weightroom show everyday.

Reavis is fresh off a trip to the Golf State Tournament where the junior earned a Top Ten finish. It will be interesting to see πŸ‘€ if that level of success on the Links spills over onto the Basketball πŸ€ court ???

Both Reece and Brayden Smoot will move into the starting lineup now in place of Reitzel and Talley. Reece will need to play BIG for the Cavs to find the level of success they hope for this season.

The depth of the rotation will play a big part as the season develops. Puckett and Burnette have experience within the program while Bunn, Conner, Leagans and Phillips will each look to push for playing time.

Barnes and Richardson have selected their twelve Cavaliers. The team will hustle, play in your face defense and launch a few 3-pointers along their way.

They will be well coached and disciplined = Fun to Watch…. Coming to a Gymnasium near you VERY soon!

Russell Smoot, Anthony Barnes and Brayden Smoot…
