Carroll County High School 🏫 Wrestling Coach is laser focused at the start of Year #2!

Wrestling Head Coach West Long has been busy for the entire off season and now its time to actually get to focus on the actual season.

Above is the Varsity schedule and below is the Middle School 🏫 Schedule.

Coach Long is easy to pull for as he and his staff try to bring a sense of Pride to the Carroll County Wrestling Room.

The team participated in a pre-season tournament over the weekend and Coach checked in with the results:

This was a Good tournament to get back into the swing of things! These athletes have been busting their tail all off-season and it is paying off. There were not as many entries into the tournament this weekend, however it doesn’t matter if you have 1 opponent or 30 opponents in a day. We will always put in the work, show up, and compete to our fullest abilities! There are some Big things happening in the wrestling room at Carroll County.

Driven is a Great example for describing Miss Alyssa Ervin. Later today we begin The College Years !

Alyssa Ervin and the Elon Phoenix are set to host High Point University in a Division 1 Women’s Basketball 🏀 game. It’s been a Hot 🔥 Minute since a Carroll County High School 🏫 graduate 🎓 laced them up for a College Basketball 🏀 game at the Top Level.

The four year ride that Ervin ( now pushing 6 feet tall) and the Lady 👩 Cavaliers took the community on is behind us now. Gone, but not forgotten might be the best way to say it. The level of success that Ervin will find going forward is yet to be determined but I’m proud to say that I’m pulling for her to find the level of success.

See, when are Driven to a point where people might be put off by your level of caring and passion, the natural thought process is to seek out others that are the same way. That’s the bond between the path that Ervin is on and my own.

Chasing something with everything you have can be a lonely journey. Tonight is Game 1 of Year 1 of that journey and because of the size of the stage, it will be easy enough to follow.

Tonight our #1 will be wearing #3 and while we won’t know the outcome for years to come, I wouldn’t bet against Ervin accomplishing her goals.

One of the things that will assist Ervin is the Love and Support of her Family 👪. There are going to be struggles along the way when you go from being the Big Fish 🐟 in the Little Pond versus the Little Fish in the incredibly large Ocean.

One of the most important things that someone can have is a circle of Support. There’s a big ole check ✔ in that box 📦 for Ervin, two generations worth and they will be there for her every step 🚶‍♂️of the journey.

Four Amazing seasons that included two State Championship Wins and two close calls look impressive 👏 on a resume. It opens doors 🚪to a place like Elon University and tonight a very talented and DRIVEN young Lady 👩 is going to walk through said door. Six ➕ hours until Tip Off…

Go Elon, Go Alyssa and don’t forget to take the time to enjoy the journey!

         The search is on for people with a passion and desire to accomplish something despite the facts or logic stating that it should be happening.

   We are all trying hard to be the best version of ourselves. The World 🌎 is full of challenges and we want to take the people that are showing us the way and put them in the forefront.

  Do you have an ability that you can share with others, something that another person can use to help them get through a similar situation ?

   We have some great examples of these types of people all around us. The challenge is finding the ones that are comfortable stepping up and leading others.

  Everyone has an opportunity to create an environment that breeds Hope !

The past four years has flown by in certain ways yet feels like a lifetime in others.

First things First, each of the programs that we have been following / supporting this Fall has some unfinished business and we will happily stay with them until the are all done playing their schedules.

Carroll County High School 🏫 Varsity Volleyball 🏐 is set to play Tuesday night in the Region Quarterfinals at Christiansburg with first serve being planned for 6pm.

Carroll County Cross Country still has their Regional meet left and we will remain alongside Head Coach Shawn Montgomery until the final runner 🏃‍♂️ has completed their final race 🏁.

Appalachian State University Field Hockey 🏑 has moved into their Post Season play and the team will now play in the MAC tournament on November 6th, 7th and 8th. The event will take place in Ohio.

Duke University 🏈🏈🏈 sits at 6-3 with three more regular season games and a Bowl 🥣 game yet to play. At NCSU, vs Va Tech, at Wake Forrest and then to a Bowl destination during December.

The common denominator with each of these is that I have completed ALL of my Announcing assignments. Now its just about showing support from the sidelines.

The sole place left I might be holding a 🎤🎙🎤 is at Basketball 🏀 with Coach Vickey Ritchie.

There are hundreds of tweaks to the process that will be talked about here before too long. But the first piece of Business is to wrap up the seasons in hand ✋.

The Goal is no longer to try and throw a blanket of coverage over the entire County or even for the entire High School / Middle School. It’s unrealistic to accomplish such a thing in a place that is running 🏃‍♂️ at Top Speed in a non-stop manner.

The Goal is to try and work with people that want to be worked with. Still looking to help give a Voice to folks that might not get it otherwise.

Looking forward to continuing down our Chosen Path of the Road Less traveled. Looking forward to supporting those that could use the support.

It’s Monday morning 🌄 ahead of what promises to be a monumental Tuesday. For those of you that Pray 🙏, Please say one about Wednesday morning.

Christiansburg High School 🏫 at 6pm on Tuesday !

Marion Harris leads things off on The Morning 🌄 After with Soccer ⚽️ News- Virginia Surge style!

We went 1-1 on Saturday only allowing one goal!!! Sunday morning game at 8AM was a must win!!!! Teams battled for 55 mins still 0-0, the surge gets on the board and it will hold for a 1-0 win.

The other side of the bracket did not play until 11 so we waited around to see if we would play in the finals or in the consolation game!!! The team we beat yesterday beat the team we lost to and that put our team into the finals!!!

In the finals we ran into a team that was on fire, they had a player that is going D1 in the fall of 2025!! We fell in the finals but came away with 2nd place!!!
