A different kind of Out of Town Scoreboard on Sunday. First up, App State Field Hockey 🏑 played its fourth non-conference Top 25 opponent this season and hung tough in Norfolk. The team would eventually fall 2-1 with all three goals taking place in the opening frame. My last trip to Boone will come next Friday night 🌙 when we wrap up the home portion of our schedule 📅.
Ashlyn Newman and her Union University Soccer ⚽️ team wrapped up their weekend with a victory !
The fourth and final Duke University sporting event of the weekend took place between 7 & 9 pm.
Earlier in the Day, Duke Volleyball 🏐 was less fortunate as Florida State University swept the Home 🏡 team 3-0.
In between there was enough time to hang out with Too Cool 😎 Kid !
Halfway Home 🏡, tomorrow it will be RDU and Alleghany High School 🏫 as Lin flies out and the Lady 👩 Cavaliers open their post season run 🏃♂️ against the Cougars…..
Volleyball 🏐 comes in All shapes and sizes, played at so many different levels across the Globe 🌎. My wife played the game during her time in College and I played some way back in the day.
I have been blessed to spend the last 20+ years or so around two Coaches that have spent their Adult lives around the game, trying to teach the game they love to our youth.

Naturally, these two know each other because the HS Volleyball Coaching legend tree 🌳 is a small one. While there’s a great deal of mutual respect for each other and its fun for me when we are all together, they’re styles are vastly different. But make no mistake about the fact that they both set the bar High when it comes to what they expect from their players.
Naturally, both of them know Rose 🌹, another Legand in the Business.
Coach Knight is a few years older than me and it turns out Coach Edwards and I are the same age, hence the attempt at humor with the different Schools together.
Anyone can punch 👊 in some words about Caring ❤ for someone. Please know that tomorrow morning 🌄 I will drop Linda off at Raleigh – Durham Airport as she will be flying out for Business and then to check on her Mother 👩 in Missouri.
Once Lin is all set, I will then punch Alleghany High School 🏫 into my GPS.
Why ? Nobody that’s going to make the drive 🚗 to the Highlands tomorrow wants to go up there on a Monday night 🌙 but its the Three Rivers District Championship semi-final and we earned a seat 💺 at the table.

The First Family 👪 of the efforts in Carroll County would be the three Daughters that call Shelia and Marion Harris Mom 👩 and Dad 👨. The trio of Adrienne, Natalie and Callie have always been fun to support and write ✍ about. They are each well rounded, respectful and ultra competitive.
Natalie is attending College over at Emory & Henry and this year (Jan Brady) went in search of a new Athletic challenge. Fearless young Lady 👩 chose LaCrosse…
So, when you find yourself watching 👀 some of a NCAA Women’s LaCrosse ( Duke, Elon, UNC, Queens, East Carolina and one other program) Tournament, it’s easy to quickly think about the Middle Daughter. I am not sure it Natalie ever looked at her Parents and said Marsha, Marsha, Marsha – why is it all about Marsha as she grew up in the shadows of her Big Sis…. but Callie is trying hard to chase both of the down and I wouldn’t bet against her!

Coach Long is a hard working 💪 Coach who cares deeply about his Wrestling program ! Not sure that I have the ability to help him achieve his Goals but always willing to try just the same.
. Sure hope that his weekend was everything he hoped for !
