Just like a Preacher will try to lighten the mood by telling a joke at the start of a sermon, let’s begin the Day with a funny memory from my youth.
The photos above are from the most lopsided Football πππ game in the history of the sport. Georgia Tech edged out Cumberland 222-0. I don’t recall reading many books in School but one I did read was titled Great Sports Humor.
I remember reading about a football game where the final score was 200+ to zero and the losing team was from where my Mother π© was born 19 years later.
In the book π, the tell the story about a Cumberland player getting his Bell π rung on a given play and then when he was able to gather himself enough to walk off the field, he went to the Georgia Tech sideline instead of his own.
The GT coach approached the young man π¨ and asked about his well being. The Student Athlete replied that he was fine which led the Coach to inform him that he was on the wrong sideline to which he replied, “No Sir, if I go back over there they will try to put me back in the game.”
222-0, not sure exactly what happened that day but I can relate to coming up on the short end of the scoreboard. You have to dust yourself off and then ask, what could I have done better ? What can I take away from the experience that will help me in the next battle ?
Day 4 will be centered around two events, the Junior Varsity season ending Three Rivers District Volleyball π match at Radford and then the Varsity team will close out their regular season with a Match against the Bobcats.
Head Coach Cindy Edwards and her team will play at least two more times after tonight, possibly more if they find success in their post season tournaments.
Radford is one of the three teams that are set to enter the Three Rivers District Championship tournament on Monday along with the Lady π© Cavaliers. CCHS (12-8, 7-4) led the Bobcats 2-0 when they played on The Hill but could not close out the night, falling 3-2.
Monday night will have #1 hosting #4 & #2 versus #3 with the winners π playing for the Crown π on Wednesday night π.
The next thing on the Agenda π will be to share Player Profile #12, the one for Corrie Delp. The final one will be on Exchange Student Leny Richter, who will be heading back to Germany π©πͺ before the end of the Calender year.
Late yesterday the Family πͺ suffered a loss as my Uncle Elvin Owens passed away over in Tennessee. He had lived an adventurous life and gets credit for teaching me how to both talk and listen at the same time. I feel that the life lesson he taught me back then is at or near the top of the list when it comes to my level of success in Life.
The Junior Varsity Football team was able to add an opponent back for tonight after originally showing their final two games as canceled. This will give the team an opportunity to bounce back after suffering their first setback of the season at Floyd County.
We would love to hear about how the game plays out so we can share with folks that are not on Facebook. The team has experienced a great season π to this point !
Day 4 of 14 is here, now get out there and have a Blessed Day !
