Thoughts from Dad πŸ‘¨ :

Being Maddie’s parent is a blessing in many ways.
Seeing her compassion and kind heartedness drives those around her to be better. She has a great work ethic and the determination to learn new things that are shaping her into the person she is becoming is exciting.

Watching her grow, and develop her own unique personality, helps her navigate challenges with a positive mindset.
Being a part of the volleyball team has allowed Maddie to understand the value of a team atmosphere which she strives to be a part of. Maddie also put in extra work so she can excel academically. These are just a few of the things that make me so proud to be her Dad.

Coach Cindy Edwards :

Maddie Hyatt is another young player with a lot of potential she has dealt with injuries last year with a broken ankl, and then one of her teammates accidentally hit a ball that hit her and gave her a concession .

She is one of the hardest working kids I’ve had, she is so hard on herself. She is a perfectionist can’t wait to see her develop over the next few years

Thoughts from Maddie :

Hello! I enjoy volleyball so much, I love the team atmosphere. I love learning new things and continuing to get more comfortable out on the court. My team means the world to me, I watch how hard everybody works every day and I love watching them grow.

We have come so far as a team. I’m very lucky to have such a good coach who pushes me and who has taught me so much.

On the days i’m not playing volleyball I enjoy going to the barn and riding my horse, Lenny. I’m so lucky to have the opportunities that I do!

From Mom πŸ‘© :

Being a member of the Volleyball team has had a tremendous effect on Maddie’s commitment to herself and her own personal goals, as well as supporting her teammates success.

Maddie’s dedication individually and as a team player is evident in her efforts in practice and on Game Days. The collaborative nature of the sport has strengthened her ability to work effectively in a group setting, as well as learning when to lead and when to follow. Most importantly, the friendships she has established with her Volleyball Family extends beyond the game, helping shape the individual she is becoming.

Assistant Coach Maleah Neely :

Maddie is an absolute stellar kid. After her injury last year, I wasn’t really sure how she would do, but she has blown me away with her work ethic.

She played club for Wythe Elite over last winter and she has improved so much. Her serve and defense has been vital for us in many games when other players are struggling.

She has worked this season on making herself a better hitter on the outside, but I think where she has made the biggest improvement is in her confidence. She has gone from timid and afraid of getting on the floor to more assertive. Her serve is deceptively good because of the way that it drops once it goes over the net. Once she can put all the pieces together – serve receive, defense, and hitting – I think that she could be a good compliment to Ali on the outside.

A mid season concussion took her out for a little bit, but she is back and better than ever. I’m looking forward to seeing her compete for the outside hitter position over the next few years because competition breeds excellence and I know that she strives to be the best she can be.
