Nine hours prior to hitting his 1st Tee Shot, we can tell you that Trace Reavis will need a windbreaker in the Morning πŸŒ„ !

The drive πŸš— up I-81 tonight was about as stress free as it could be and the first thing I did was check the weather forecast for Trace Reavis..

8:30 am looks like 42Β° here at the start of the round. It should be an exciting time from start to finish as Carroll County High School 🏫 Golf β›³ makes the Class 3 Map !

Pulaski County & Lord Botetourt are the two teams that qualified from our Region (3D).

One of the golfers πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈthat Trace will be doing battle with is Senior Chase Synder of Wilson Memorial High School 🏫

Two other golfers πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈthat qualified along with Snyder were Jack Baughman of Spotswood and Andrew McCoy of Rockbridge

Joining Trace from Region 3D are both Conner Brummit (Abingdon) & Josh Cummins ( Christiansburg)

Taking a quick look at Class 3A :

Teams – New Kent & Lafayette

Top 3 Individuals not on those teams:

Lilly McDermott and Beck Christiansen from Grafton and Christian Martin of York.

Class 3B :

Teams : Meridian & Kettle Run

Individuals from other teams :

Tommy Stallings – Culpeper

Mason Markell – Fauquier

Mathew Amos – Culpeper

Now you have the list of the Eight teams and 12 Individuals that punched their ticket 🎟 to H’BURG.

60 Golfers πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈ are set to take their swings on a β›³ course that I have fortunately played roughly 20 times. The course is a little forgiving in spots but will play long later today.

Golf β›³ Coach Chase Robinson checks βœ” in from H’BURG with an exciting update on Trace Reavis !

” Trace had played a practice round yesterday Sunday. And shot even par. Just out here today making some swings and adjustments on club decisions and distances. “

Thanks Coach for the update !

Trace Reavis is set to tee it up at 8:30 am tomorrow !

Representing the Family πŸ‘ͺ, the School 🏫 and the Community !

Meet Keith Huffman ! Our new Friend

Keith Huffman is seen here wearing a pretty special Polo Shirt that he was kind enough to let me have a hand in designing.

The first time I came in contact with Mr.Huffman was last year when the folks at the B.R.O.C were putting the finishing touches on their Annual Golf β›³ Tournament down in Elkin, North Carolina.

Here is a bit more about the Organization!

By the time that I stumbled across this group of dedicated Community leaders they were heading down the home stretch of their 2023 Golf outing. I was able to jump in at the last minute as an additional Sponsor and mentioned to Keith that if they could remember us in 2024 we would like to get involved in a greater manner.

The patch on the front of the Shirt.

We are excited about this group and the work they are doing in and around their Community. I encourage anyone that lives in the area that might be looking for a group to get involved with to do a little research on them.

Our Team for the Big Day! Alan Knight, Chris Carter, Marion Harris and myself.

Playing a round of Golf β›³ at CedarBrook Country Club last Wednesday was just the icing on the cake πŸŽ‚. We were part of the early Morning πŸŒ„ Shot Gun start and the day was full of memorable moments.

Landed just beyond the 18th green while we were playing #18

A number of Media outlets had reported on the amazing efforts of retired NASCAR driver Greg Biffle. Since Hurricane πŸŒ€ Helene struck the area, Biffle has used his helicopter 🚁 to fly rescue missions in and out of the region. Getting to see Greg land his bird a few yards away added a layer to that story.

Here is the other sleeve and the color chosen…

Two years are now in the books πŸ“š and the future is never promised but I sure hope that are paths cross again.

So it turns out that UNC – Chapel Hill can lay claim to more than just one 🐐 G.O.A.T

Sunday afternoon in Boone, North Carolina was memberable to me for a trio of reasons and #3 was experiencing the Erin Matson effect.

Matson, standing just a few inches taller than 5 feet (5’4), is the Head Coach of the North Carolina Field Hockey πŸ‘ program. Before that this impressive young Lady πŸ‘© went from High School to UNC-CH and calmly led the Tar Heels to four consecutive National Championships. This would make Matson the Bre Stewart (Stewie) of the World 🌎 of Field Hockey πŸ‘.

After capturing four straight Natty’s in a team sport, Stewie left UCONN and went on to the WNBA, playing for the Seattle Storm and now the New York Liberty πŸ—½.

Matson took a different approach in that immediately after capturing Natty #4, she went from being the Top player on the Top team to being the Coach of said Top team. Quite the transition but Matson won πŸ† Natty #5 last season and I wouldn’t bet against her winning a 6th straight here in a month or so.

Here are the two Squads (UNC & App State) just after I introduced them before our match yesterday in Boone.

Captains meeting prior to first touch.

Reason #2 for the Day being special was that after 46 years of holding a πŸŽ€πŸŽ™πŸŽ€ I was calling a game that included the #1 team in the Nation. Reason #3 is the reason for reason #2 and the #1 reason that October 13th, 2024 will stick with me for a spell is that we re-opened the campus of Appalachian State University.

Hurricane πŸŒ€ Helene pounced on the Greater Boone area just over two weeks ago, leaving part of the Campus and City under flood waters.

Classes are set to resume here in two more days and the sign leading up to our Stadium 🏟 shows how high the water reached.

Boone and a large portion of Western North Carolina will be recovering from the Storm for months, if not years.

For a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon things felt normal on The Rock and its just the first step πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ on a long road back to normal.

Here’s our Coaching Staff that have been doubling up as Care Takers since the storm. Emily Dinsmore and her two Assistant Coaches, Azure Lokos and Pima Iturraspe were all great players in their time and are excellent recruiters. They have traveled the Globe 🌎 to bring people to Boone and I’m fairly confident that the recruiting brochures didn’t include any possibility that one day you might have to swim out to your car.

Our Marketing promotion team passed out miniature Field Hockey sticks and Ice Cream 🍦 Bars. It was a great day to be back doing what we do after a long couple of weeks !
