Final piece of Business on a Busy Saturday is our Out of Town Scoreboard!

Bluefield Soccer ⚽️ finished in a 1-1 πŸ‘” today and check out who scored the Rams 🐏 πŸ‘€ Goal – our KK Newman !!!

Eastern Mennonite University (Madison Stockner) celebrated Alumni Day up in Harrisonburg but fell short in their match.

Kalee Bunn and Ferrum VB was also up in Bluefield but on the West Virginia side playing Bluefield State. The Panthers had their 3 match winning streak snapped as they dropped three close sets to the Home Team.

Ashlyn Newman and Union University is playing a Friday and Sunday schedule down in Alabama. The team opened their weekend with a Victory!

In a week FULL of Super Bowl 🏈 level events, Sunday afternoon will hold a special place in my Heart ❀ for two reasons…

I’ve had October 13th circled on my Calendar πŸ“… for quite some time. I’m in my 3rd season of announcing Field Hockey πŸ‘ down at Appalachian State University and Sunday will be the first time in my 46 years that I will announce a NCAA contest that includes the #1 Ranked Team in the Nation.

The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill is coming to The Rock and the Tar Heels are the dominant team in the World 🌎 of Field Hockey πŸ‘.

I won’t hide from the level of excellence I have about this, pre- Hurricane. Boone, North Carolina was one of the hardest hit cities / communities during Helene. The University has been in shutdown since the storm and will resume Classes on Wednesday.

The Football team had to cancel their Home game vs Liberty University the weekend of the storm and have played on the road the past two weekends. In fact they are playing as I type.

On the Field Hockey side we found home away from home Campuses in UNC – Charlotte and Davidson College before playing on the road at Liberty University and Miami of Ohio.

Tomorrow morning πŸŒ„ we will gather around at 10am ahead of the Noon start. It has gone from a game against #1 team in the Nation to the rebirth of the public side of Appalachian State University. The community, the City and the University have been through so much in the past weeks. Obviously Boone is not alone as we have witnessed a long list of places that are still trying hard to return to the point of normalcy.

If there has been any form of a bright spot here, its been the way folks have rallied around each other in a time of need.

Tomorrow morning πŸŒ„ was already going to be special because it’s the Tar Heels πŸ‘  but now its the First Step πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ in showing that while Boone was hit hard, it will live on to continue Fighting the Good Fight !

Saturday was a Fun Day for Family πŸ‘ͺ and Friends All across the Land of Cavaliers- The Harris Family spent some quality time together β€…

As you can see from the Photo πŸ“·, the Family pic today includes two Boyfriends that have been appearing in more and more Photos…

Natalie is set to begin her College LaCrosse career over at Emory & Henry!

I think that brings the total of events to the cusp of double digits. So much joy from so many places !

Personal note πŸ“ – it was neat for me to see Linda get to walk the Monster πŸ‘Ή Mile alongside Shannon Dalton, Bradley Dalton and Milly!

West Long and members of both his personal Family πŸ‘ͺ and his Wrestling family πŸ‘ͺ πŸ’™ were an Answered prayer πŸ™ today !

Carroll County High School 🏫 Wrestling Coach West Long and I get together every so often and compare notes πŸ“ about ways we can move his program in the direction he is ever so passionate about.

One of those conversations took place on Friday as I was driving back from the Northern Virginia area. West was asking how his group could help out Vickey Ritchie and her Special Olympics group ?

The Boo Ridge 5K, Fun Run and Little Gobbler event are the Biggest Day of the year for Vickey and we do everything we can to assist her with it. The greatest challenge of the event is going out afterwards and collecting each and every prop that was placed along the 3.2 mile trek.

At roughly 11:20 am all of the festivities were concluded and it was time to ” straighten up “.

This photo πŸ“· was taken just past 1pm and you can see everyone except the two helpers that went deepest into the woods. At this point Vickey was all but done βœ” with the HUMONGOUS effort ( if you can say still having to truck 🚚 home roughly 40 containers close).

We swapped out being in the Photo πŸ“· and everyone in the group knew we were light years ahead of where we would be without the help of Coach Long and his team of hard workers !!!

I can only speak as to how beat up Lin and I are after our six hours of dedicated assistance. Vickey Ritchie has been out there every night πŸŒ™ all week prepping for two hours of pure joy.

Because of the Hometown Heroes move of Coach Long and Company, everyone involved made it home 🏑 to their respective bottles of Aspirin….

Coach, what might have been just six people sure felt like a Hundred !! Reminds me of a story about Fish 🐟 and loafs of Bread 🍞.

When folks notice the OneofUs.Care logo hanging around his Wrestling team this Winter, remember the time that Coach came in and did something for someone who he has no natural connection too.

The very definition of OneofUs.Care!

Officer Chris Mabry absolutely crushed the National Anthem prior to the start of the Race 🏁 πŸ‘

Carroll County Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers playing Softball in Major League jerseys over in Tennessee !! Thanks Tammy Quesenberry…

Carroll girls playing today in Johnson City, Tn. at the 15th annual Halloween tournament. 1 and 0 so far on the day.

Will add more if it becomes available!

The team has recorded a second and third victory on the day !
