Carroll County completes sweep of Pulaski County Volleyball 🏐 Monday night πŸŒ™

Dublin – Carroll County received strong efforts across the board to defeat host Pulaski County 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-12) Monday night.

The Lady Cavaliers (9-7, 4-3) will have very little time to celebrate theIr latest victory as the team returns home tonight to host Glenvar.

The opening set versus the Cougars was decided by two dominating runs by CCHS. The first 7-0 run took the score from 7-11 to 14-11 and was highlighted by three Brooke Webb Aces, then finished by an Arizona Thompson Kill.

The second run was also 7-0 to close out the set 25-15. This time it was Callie Harris (10 Digs, 5 Aces) on the service line where she collected four Aces and both Webb and Ali Wright added Kills.

The second set mirrored the first as the Lady πŸ‘© Cavaliers played great in spurts. Trailing 10-8, CCHS put together an 8-1 run with Harris once again on the service line. Senior Aza Petty ( 12 Kills, 9 Digs and 2 Aces) sprinkled in three of her Kills during the stretch and both Raylee Goins and Laiken Burnett (24 Assists, 9 Digs and 3 Kills) added finishes to push the lead out to 16-11.

The teams traded points the rest of the way, allowing the Lady Cavaliers to prevail 25-21.

Leading 2-0, the question was could Carroll County close out PCHS in straight sets for the second time this season ? The answer was Yes and the team needed the fewest amount of points of the night πŸŒ™ to close it out.

Inside the 25-12 victory was another 7-0 run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ that pushed the lead from 9-8 to 16-8 and included a Kill from Heidi Painter and a pair from Petty.

A moment to remember pushed the lead from 19-11 to 20-11 when Ellie Heflin recorded a Kill. Heflin had been called up from Junior Varsity earlier in the day to replace an injured Maddie Hyatt. Heflin enjoyed scoring her first Varsity Kill well enough that she added a second one moments later.

Petty would add two more Aces to close out the 9-2 run, the set and the match, 25-12.

Carroll County returns to Three Rivers District play tonight when Glenvar travels to The Hill. The two teams combined for an epic battle last month in which the Lady Cavaliers fell down 2-0 before rallying to win three straight sets to defeat the Highlanders.

Carroll County Junior Varsity opened the night minus Ellie Heflin and fell into a quick hole at 10-2 in the opening set. The team bounced back the rest of the set (15-12), falling 25-14. Aubrey Hanshaw, Leigha Harrad, Katie Beasley and Hayden Heflin were some of the younger Cavaliers to score Kills and Harrad added an Ace for Coach Jason Petty.

The second set wasn’t as kind to Carroll County. The team fell into a 10-1 hole and never recovered on the way to a 25-9 score. Paisley Snider and Beasley were among the Lady Cavaliers to record Kills in the second set.
