Crossing another item of the To Do List ! Last of the Foul Ball T-shirts has been shipped out…

Ron Cochran at Omega did our Softball program proud with the final prize in the Omega / OneofUs.Care Foul Ball prize package 📦 for the 2023-2024 season. We had four out of town winners 🏆 this year and in the case of the Radford game, the lucky Bobcats fan gets a shirt 👕 with their new logo on it.

We had a great deal of Fun with the contest and was excited to double the number of prizes from 1 to 2. The ultimate compliment was paid by the Radford coach when he said they were hoping to add a similar contest to their game day routine next year !

The Legend of our Ben Tickle 💙 continues to grow right before our very eyes 👀!

New Girls Soccer ⚽️ Head Coach Adrienne Harris alongside 2023-2024 Head Coach Ben Tickle.

Fresh off his whirlwind tour of Europe 🇪🇺 with his beautiful Bride 👰, Ben Tickle showed no signs of jetlag Wednesday night when he hosted the teams annual post season banquet.

Tickle was his elegant self from start to finish over the 60 minutes, taking the time to make sure that everyone that was able to attend left the room knowing just how important they were to the team that finished up 12-4.

Tickle took the time to walk the team through the storyline that led him to accept the title of Head Coach for one season in hopes of assisting in handing the program over to Adrienne Harris for the 2024-2025 season.

I connected the dots roughly six months ago and felt the level of unselfishness being displayed was incredible 👏. This led to helping Coach provide his team with new shirts, providing all of the coverage possible, attaching a cool nickname to the group and finally announcing each of his home matches.

I think the line came from Jerry McGuire – “You had me at hello.” Just agreeing to take the position in hopes that one of the All-Time greats of the program could return home a year later had me sold. Tickle could have easily taken what the Cool Kids call a Lame Duck mentality but not our Super Hero.

Coach took a number of very young players, some that were brand new to the game, and molded them into a team. Coach gave them confidence and he surrounded himself with Top Shelf people every chance that he could.

It helped a great deal that Coach had some serious Senior Class leadership in both Ashlyn Newman and Sarah Alderman. One leader has played the game her entire life and one that was new to the game but both game their teammates someone to look up to from start to finish.

Newman managed to put the biscuit in the basket 🧺 39 times this past season to end her career with a School 🏫 record of 86 goals. The twelve victories tied the Carroll County High School record that was set when their new Coach was a Junior.

In my search for people that do amazing things for the betterment of others, sometimes when you find one that jumps off the page. We don’t know what the future holds for the program but its now being guided by a young Lady that I deemed “Our Future” after my initial conversation with her a few years back.

Last night 🌙 I watched the final chapter of another Ben Tickle act of kindness 🙏. I was so moved by the idea 💡 that I just wanted to assist him in any manner I could. The story is of a high enough quality that it might be time to make a Hallmark After School Movie 🎥 about him.

It makes me proud to have honored such an Amazing individual at our last banquet. You have to be pretty special to be named the Kevin Burress Humanitarian of the Year !

Thank You Ben Tickle 🙏 for everything you do for our community!

Our Fab Four was acknowledged by the Mayor, Town Council and Town Manager on Monday night 🌙

Alyssa Ervin is already hard at it down at Elon University but the three remaining members of the recent graduates 🎓 of Carroll County that set program records 👏 gathered together Monday on The Hill.

Emma Leath and her Family 👪

Ashlyn Newman and her Family 👪

Jabin Talley and his Family 👪

Each of the Cavaliers received a certificate and a Gift 🎁 Bag in addition to having a brief description about their accomplishments while wearing our School 🏫 colors read to the gathering.

The reading of the Stat Sheets !

David Broyles was covering the meeting for The Carroll News and there should be notes 📝 from the occasion in print shortly.

The High School 🏫 careers that this incredibly exciting foresome pieced together gave so many of us memories to cherish and for that we should be grateful 🙏 to them.

The level of dedication it takes to be a Varsity Student Athlete the full four years on The Hill is pretty high. This group accomplished that and while their numbers might someday fall to the next Great Cavalier, its a safe bet it won’t be in the same year.

Thank You for the Memories and Best of Luck at the next level of competition 👏 !

Ashlyn Newman – Union University
